Hard maple LD shaft

I got my new Taiwan custom last Friday.

It has the design similar to southwest, and it has a standard hard maple shaft as well.

However as I play with the cue I notice the shaft plays a lot like LD shaft.

It hits very much like WD700 or Hybrid pro II, but has the deflection close to 314.

This interests me the most as I didn't expect a hard maple shaft to behave like that.

Now I know deflection is caused by end mass and LD shaft reduces the end mass of the shaft, thus reduce the deflection.

This are mostly done by laminating the shaft or hollow it at front.

But as for hard maple shaft how to achieve low end mass without any modification to the shaft itself?

I tried to ask the maker, but he was reluctant to reply. Is this some custom cue maker's secret or something?

Thanks for reading,
Regards
