Man! Already there are 6 heavy matchups slated for the third matches of the winner's side. Good to see Chris MacDonald playing well. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a Amar Kang/Tony Chohan matchup, being as they're cousins? Anyone hear why Amar didn't play the one-hole event? I'm looking for Edwin Montal to do well.

Doc

That would be some match-up, Amar and Tony in the finals. :D

I think Tony's one-pocket game is better than Amar's, but if I had to make a line on the two of them in 9-ball, it would be a pick 'em.;)

The 9-ball player roster is much larger than the one-pocket player roster at the Hard Times Jamboree.:)

California has produced some strong players, past, present, and most likely the future.

Picture of Amar Kang and Keith McCready, two Californian natives!:D

where's Hemmah???

He's currently at the IPT qualifier at Hard Times in BELLFLOWER! ;)

Though he's on the B side of the charts, he'll face a very determined Scott Frost today at 3:00 p.m., EASTERN Standard Time.

That will be some match-up. Wish I was there to see this one! :)

I had a feeling you were posting, so I delayed my post by ten seconds so you could be first. :p

How REFRESHING it is to see that chivalry can still exist in the year 2006. T.P., you're a gentleman AND a scholar in my book! :)

That's a pretty strong field they have displaying some of the top talent up and down the west coast, just imagine if the IPT qualifier wasnt taking place at the same time:eek:

HT 9-ball update

The results have been updated and Dennis Orcullo won over Amar Kang 9-3 to force another showdown with Tony Chohan who won over Edwin Montal.

Who do you think will win this time?

I have a feeling that Dennis is going to come up on top in this match-up. Historically, revenge somehow kicks Dennis' game up a notch or two.

Not much action. "Tooth" played Tony some 1P. He got 8 to 4 and the hits. I think they were pretty even after 3 hours and then Tony had to quit because he has a match at 12:00. Can't imagine having Tooth on the line and quiting because of a tournament. BTW, it was 1G a game.

Everything else was pretty slow, unlike last year. Melissa Little is in the quarter finals in the winners bracket. She is playing very well, having dispatched Parica, Chris MacDonald and others. Dennis smoked Tony to send him to the losers bracket. Melissa plays Dennis tomorrow, don't think she will pull that one off, but she is playing hot. Tyler Edney and Santos are in the other winners bracket Qfinal. Santos is starting to hit the balls well after a slow start. Looks like it may be Dennis Orcollo and Santos in the finals.

The womens tournament started also. Megan M. and Michelle Rakin seem to be playing well. Julie Hunter runs a great tournament, as does Tom and Scott. Every match has been scheduled and started when the players arrived. No waiting.

Somewhere along the line everyone expects Orcollo and Chohan to match up, after Dennis took the hit by Tony in the 1P finals.

Thank you x3! I was about to give San Andreas a call to see if she's got anything to do with the news black-out. nytie-nyt.

Are there any brackets online for the women's tourney?

Brackets will be updated in the next few hours.

It would be nice to stop a minute and thank Mike Howerton for the endless hours he puts in for these bracket and news updates you enjoy reading on the AZBilliards home page.

Mike is on the road this weekend and he still finds time to do these updates and write the stories we all enjoy.

But, Mike can only update the info when he gets it.

I will be calling him this morning (Sacramento time) to give him the updates.

Please be patient.

Thanks

Just heard from Melissa and she is very excited to have made the final 4 on the winner's side. She's looking forward to playing Dennis at noon PST and will just try to play 'her' game. By the way, she didn't play Parica, she beat Deo Alpajora another fillipino before playing Chris. I think she won both matches 9-8. She's trying to play in the Women's tourney at the same time as the open, but I think it's proving too much for her since she's really focused on the open. She's on the one-loss side.

I'm so proud of Melissa. Best of luck for the remainder of the tourney...keep playing great!
