Hard Times 9-ball

Thanks Tom. I guess it's just unfotunate that there's such a thing as time zones and until realized that it's now an international community that anxiously awaits results, we just have to satisfy ourselves at rehashing old news here in poolhalls at 1am. This is just an fyi from the other side of the world. Hey, your event's got an international following now Tom. Everybody extends their thanks to you and Mike!

Just heard from Melissa and she is very excited to have made the final 4 on the winner's side. She's looking forward to playing Dennis at noon PST and will just try to play 'her' game. By the way, she didn't play Parica, she beat Deo Alpajora another fillipino before playing Chris. I think she won both matches 9-8. She's trying to play in the Women's tourney at the same time as the open, but I think it's proving too much for her since she's really focused on the open. She's on the one-loss side.

I'm so proud of Melissa. Best of luck for the remainder of the tourney...keep playing great!

Dave

Ops, your right about Parica, it was Megan that I watched playing Parica. It was late last night when I posted. Deo, if you don't know him, is an extremely talented young (20-21) player from San Francisco. He is a very tough draw, but not as tough as Jose. Unlucky first draw for Megan. But frankly, the result would have been the same. Melissa had control of the game until she got on the hill. Until then Deo was kicking at balls, if he got a shot. Once he got a couple of open shots, he caught up quickly. Everyone has been pulling for her, she's getting alot of support and is quit gracious about it.

Any updates?

Just came home for a break. Edney was winning against Santos in winners bracket, Melissa lost to Dennis in winners bracket, and is playing Valle in losers bracket, she is behind. She will place 5-6 for $700.00 if she loses. Chohan Lost to Warren Kiamco in losers bracket and is out.

Winner between Edney and Santos will play Dennis Orcollo for the winners bracket final.

Melissa and Megan will be playing in Women's after finish of Valle match. Megan had defeated Victoria Rodriques (?) in Womens. There are still a couple of other Women's matches.

BTW-Tooth showed up as I was leaving. He jumped on Tony for more of last night. So far Tony has backed off! If you know BuckTooth, you can only imagine what he was saying to Tony and a couple of others that were betting against him last night. Great entertainment.

Any new updates?

based on the brackets, it's down to three players... Tyler, Dennis Orcullo and Gandy Valle with Dennis waiting on the winner's bracket.

Any new updates so far?

Dennis wins with Gandy coming in 2nd! I was anxious for the result against Tony last ight as myself and a couple of buddies had a little something-something on the side. I was for Dennis in the rematch and gave them 4 on the wire since that's the spread in the 1P finals. Hooha!

Dennis and Gandy's trip there is being followed here through the net and through their calls to their manager but unfortunately we can't get a hold of Perry yesterday. Unlike the other Pinoy players, Dennis' and Gandy's trip is financed by somebody other then themselves since they can't afford the trip expenses. So their trip is like a mini TV series that's being followed by pool enthusiasts here (with a little something-something on the side of course).:)

No Ring Game this year, once anyone that was interested saw that Dennis had already signed up, they backed down.

The finals were a race to 11 and it was neck to neck for the first 14 games and the score was tied at 7.

Dennis caught a gear and won the next 4 games, which included a couple of very well played break and runs.

Dennis Orcollo, Chuck Markulis (owner) Scott Smith and Gandy Valle. are left to right in the attached picture

The ladies finals and payouts will be listed on the AZBilliards home page soon.
Melissa Little defeated Michelle Rakin 9-5 in a well played match by both ladies.

Mighty Melissa

Just heard from Melissa and as Tom posted, she won the women's tourney after falling to the one-loss side early in that tournament. She also ended up 5th/6th in the open. One awesome trip, maybe now she afford some bangs :p .

She had mentioned that Dennis and Tony Chohan are matched up playing a race to 7 one pocket for 4,000 jelly beans (is that right? or should it be 4 bags of sand? I'm so confused). I guess they played before the tourney and Tony won the cheese. Maybe someone can update the results, Melissa's too tired and hungry to sweat it.

Thanks for the pdate and pics Tom. I see that Dennis still wears his signature chalk mark on his chin!LOL Please tell him that his Kumpadre(Dennis' son's godfather) wants a Hardtimes shirt and will pay him for it when he returns.

1P race to 7? I'll take Tony with Dennis getting +2 games.:D

Congrats Dennis!

I never doubted his 9-ball prowess! When Dennis won the Reno Open I mentioned that he'll be my "Rookie of the Year"... with this win, it's cemented  Of course, that'll depend on the award-giving bodies tho LOL :D

Congrats again Dennis! May you have many more wins before the visa expires :D

The Philippines was greatly represented in this tournament, almost every Filipino made it to the money. (top 16)

The Score Was T-rex 7,dennis 2. Beleive Me It Wasn't Close. Dennis Should Not Play One Pocket For That Many Beans Until He Learns How To Play That Game.i Can Honestly Say By Witnessing That Game That T-rex Is One Of The Top Ten One Pocket Players In The Country.not To Take Anything Away From Dennis ,because That Man Can Play.............thats,thats,thats All Folks, from Hardtimes California

Hey I may be a Dennis fan but when I gamble I use my head. Dennis has no business locking horns with Tony right now in 1p. 4 games spread in the finals and still 4 games spread in that 4k match-up! What does that tell you? Next trip, he may just be 2 games diffrence, but not at any time during this trip as I think that he needs a little more time to himself to just dissect what the game is all about and the best way for him to play it. Thanks for the update.

There goes my t-shirt!:(

Race to 7, did Dennis get any spot? With no spot that's really a good game for Tony. It would take a top caliber one pocket player to beat Tony straight up.

Was there any other action in Hardtimes Sac?
