Just got off the phone with Mark Haddad who competed in the 9-ball event. He said there were four players left in the Hard Times Jamboree 9-Ball tournament in Sacramento, CA, but could only give me three names: Marlin Mandala, Jose Parica, and Bobby Hunter.

Mark Haddad said he was playing great and was happy with his performance. He ended up beating UPA Touring Pro Mike Davis on the B side of the charts, 9 to 2, but I can't remember who knocked Mark out.

Buddy Hall lost to Bobby Hunter in the losers' bracker in a match that went hill-hill, with Buddy missing the case 9-ball shot for the win.

That's a snippet. Hopefully, others will chime in...

Annigoni beat Haddad 9-5, then lost to Parica 9-3.

This just in...

Jose Parica knocked Young Gun Amar Kang out of the tournament from the B side of the charts.

Billy Palmer is out, losing to a fellow that Mark Haddad professed Jose Parica could spot the 7-, 8-, and 9-ball to, in his opinion. [Don't you just love how pool players size up one another?!] Just goes to show you, though, that in a tournament, if a player brings their best game to the table, anybody can excel in the charts and win! :)

The two Philippinos met in the winners' bracket, and Marlon Manalo knocked Jose Parica to the B side, 9 to 1.

There was an action game between Eddie Clark and Boy George, with Eddie beating Boy George two sets for an undisclosed amount! ;)

Just a few more tidbits! :p

I beat Amar in my second match 9:7. He got a few rolls at 4:4 to go 6:4 up but then missed a crucial 7 ball at 7:5 to let me back in. I ran the last 3 racks for the match.

Next I played Ernesto and probably played my best match of the week. I ran 2 and 4 racks to go 7:1 and managed to keep my nerve despite missing a couple of chances late on to close it out 9:3.

Next I beat Mark Haddad 9:5 I think and played pretty well also running quite a few racks. Mark had just beaten buddy who I thought I was going to play.

My friend John wimms knocked out palmer 9:8, he should have won 9:6 but he miss cued on the 8 ball with the 9 ball over the hole!

The 9 ball that buddy missed was unbeleivable but he says he got a kick which threw it off and he was probably right. He would have probably made those last two balls 999,999 out of a million though!

I think it looks like Manalo for his second title as he was 6:2 up in the final race to 11.

Anyone know who won the ring ten-ball?

I had thought Kid D and Mike Davis were going to play but apparently they didn't get in.

Marlon Malano won the last 4 games to take the cash. Cliff Joyner and Bobby Hunter were the last to bite the dust.

Buddy Hall, Tony Chohan, Santos, Jose Parica, Bobby Hunter, Cliff Joyner and Marlon were the players.

Let's see....
$12000 from Reno
$5000 from 9 Ball at Hard Times
$4600 from 10Ball Ring games at Hard Times

Plus the $3500 won from Tony Chohan at the Reno event in the back room

That's $27100 in the last two weeks.

Not bad for the first visit to the States... eh?

Danny was in but not Mike, when Danny withdrew, Bobby Hunter stepped up.

Don't forget the $1,000 for second place at the usppa handicap Reno warmup in San Jose.

Lets also not forget the $13 local tournament in Valencia and $10 tournament in Santa Monica he snapped off from local unsuspecting players. Hope you had a great time Marlon. We did watching you. But now we know who you are.

Love the pictures, Tom! :)

Just for an inquiring mind, which game did Tony Chohan and Marlon Malano play? How did they match up, or did they play even?

Second hand info....

Tony got a spot in a race to 10 ahead. They quit even when they ran out of time. Tony at one point was 6 ahead.
The next time they matched up it was for 8 ahead.. and I heard that Marlon won the first 8 games... how strong is that?

Like I said... this is second hand info.
