Hello out there, I would like the feedback of our membership on the cue pictured in the below photo. I have never seen another cue with this many veneer's around it's points. Please look closely:) and try to find the points!!

This cue has a total of 9 veneer's per point, if you want even say the cue has points.

Anyone care to guess who made this cues forearm?

Anyone else have any photo's of cues with this many veneer's. Thanks for everyones consideration.

Have a good night!!!!

Ron Haley has been doing 6 to 9 veneers for a while now. Many times, he will double up on a color to make the appear to be thicker and will seperate colors with a thin black "accent" veneer.

The result is anywhere from 6 to 9 veneers without sacrificing the size of the actual point.

Ron is an incredible cuemaker and I can't wait to get my hands on mine.

Keith does some similar things. recentley Ron was looking at some of Keiths new work and told Keith "I Hate You!". he told Keith it took him a while to perfect the techniques that Keith had grasped what seemed so quickly, even though he knew Keith was proficient with splice work from his past. i love that look and can't wait for mine from Keith as well.

Ummm ... that would be Keith Josey ... just in case someone was wondering.

I have agree that Ron is one of the Best cue makers in the country!!!!
He also is not very well know, which is very surprising to me. There are many cue makers out there getting $2000 plus for their cues, and their work is not even close to Ron's. I also am going to have a cue made by Ron, along with a Titlist Conversion cue. The cue I have pictured is not that nice, but it is interesting.

Thanks for the reply!!!

The cue I started this thread about is a Late 1970's model Lou Butera tribute cue made by Adams/Helmstetter. The cue has 9 veneer's around a little stubby rose wood point.

Kinda makes me think that if some one was motivated to, they could build forearms without any points at all, veneering could look pretty sweet if tastefully done. I suspect we may see this in the future.

The cue pictured was brought in for a refinish, I have not been able to fine any additional information concerning this line. When I started the refinish there was a Partial Adams logo on the butt cap. The only other company I have found that made Lou Butera cues was the Q Rich cue company, and they made a series of cues called the signature line.

If anyone has any additional information regarding this thread please pass it along, I am interested to see other cues from this line of Adams cues.

Thanks and have a great day!!!!!

That is a viking.

Bud, I think you should read my posts above, I clearly stated that the cue had a partial Adam logo on the butt. Now I have no idea, where your information is coming from, but please share it with a photo, or other facts.

Now unless, Viking made blanks for Adam cues, which I would doubt since Adam was making blanks for everyone else. Adam / helmstetter cues was also the leader in the industry for unique design / experimental designs during that time frame.

Last of all, the cue had a decal of Lou Butara's signature on the forearm, and a Partial Lion Decal on the butt. Now to my limited knowledge Viking did not make signature lines of cues during the time frame indicated or any other time during the 70's or 80's.

Thanks jayman for your input, and please let me know what information you have. Have a great day!!!!!

I think someone put an adams stricker on it some where along the way. adams never made three point cues. But viking did infact make only three piont blanks, Untill the cnc ere began. Before that any four point viking was built using forearms made by someone else.

That one was one is one of there more interesting blanks.

I would send a pic to Barry Hart for a model #

I was searching the net for another one and found this,

Take care,
Jay.

Jay, Adams did make three point cues in the 1970's and the early 1980's. I have seen others before. The Lion logo was under finish on the butt cap, it was not a sticker Jay. I do like the cue in your post, however this one was at least 10 year's older.

Thanks Partner!!!!!

Manwon,

I sent the pictures of you'r viking project to adams, and asked them to identifiy the model number for me. This is a copy of their responce.

Dear Jay ,
According to our factory they never made a cue like this before with that kind of veneers . so its not an Adam cue.

Thank you
Bobby

I had a old 7 veveer Joss cue

I sent it to Jimm Buss for inspection for a Joss buyer. He didn't want the cue because it was refinished. A guy in Ohio wound up with it. It was a old 57 inch cue made after Bill had left. The veneer work was miles ahead of anything at the time. I wounder if Danny did the forearm. I seem to rember him saying he did. They were full veneers Bem forearm and birdseye points! The very inside and outside veneeers were black.
Someone was not afraid of wax paper! I lost the pics when my second monster crashed about three years ago! Computers can't live with em!
