I can't seem to find the stuff. I've also checked on some wood trading sites as well.

I love me some purple heart!!!

I have never seen purpleheart burl! I have seen some nice figured purpleheart! Try searching for figured purpleheart!

I too have seen purple heart with a TON of figuring in it. It's VERY cool. I"m just wondering if a burl is possible.

I saw what I was told was a 300 pound purple heart burl at a wood dealer about a year ago but I never got to look at it up close. It still was covered in bark and on the back of a large pile. At this dealer you have to buy the entire burl and don't really know what it looks like on the inside till you cut it. I felt like the price was to high compared to the risk and I was on the hunt for another kind of burl.

I was hesitant to even post about this because I knew what was going to happen. I will probably get flamed for this but here it is.

Before I get anymore PM's about this. The purpose of me saying that yes I have seen a piece of purple heart burl was to let you know that yes it's out there you are not chasing a mystical unicorn so to speak. This can be a big help in and of it's self to know that what you are looking for is real. I was just encouraging you with the words of "seek and yea shall find"

I don't blame you for not wanting to reveal your sources. Don't sweat it. that's why I PM'd you. If you would be so kind as to inquire with your source, if they still have the burl, I would be much appreciative. If you would buy it for me and ship it to me, I would even be willing to pay YOU for your trouble. If not, that's cool.

Thanks very much either way Travis. You are right. Knowing it exists is half my battle. NOW TO FIND SOME!!!!

I may have found some. I'm waiting to hear back. Would anyone be interested in a possible group buy?

I wonder what purpleheart burl would look like on the inside. Since there's usually no visible grain lines or anything, is it full of eyes?
I'd be interested, and I imagine a few other folks would be, too, but only if the supplier provides some good photos. A blind group buy for a burl in that price range is unlikely.

I'm waiting on pics and price from a guy that might know a guy, who has a friend, that once met a guy, who's cousin thought he saw some...

I'm pretty much giving up hope for now. But here's to hoping...

The closest I have ever seen is my curly purpleheart Zylr cue. Amazing looking wood, but not burl.

I'm in the same boat. I've seen VERY curly PH, but not burl. I have a couple friends in Brazil on the hunt for me, and one in Venesuela. I'm waiting to hear back now. I'm still not counting out my first source, but every time I hear from him, it sounds worse and worse...
