I am trying a sniper tip on my cue.
It installed and shaped fine...
Just a little soft yet...
can I press a sniper before installing...
" I tried with a Kamui black soft and the tip didnt play well at all,
I may have [pressed it too much:o

I think that's not a good idea. I wouldn't do that with any layered cue tip.
 
Go ahead and press it, I know plenty of cuemakers and people that press their layered tips before instal. MHO on sniper tips on the other hand is that they are junk, they delaminate in the most recent years.

iN MY EXPERIENCE...
TRADITIONAL INSTALL/SHAPING TECHNIQUE RUINS SNIPER...
watch yOUTUBE SNIPER TIP INSTALLATION,
hE ACTUALLY WETS THE TIPS WITH WATER, AND TRIMS AND SHAPES IT.
i'VE TRIED IT, WORKS GREAT!
 
If it needed pressing.............. the manufacturer would have pressed it.................

I press Tiger Emerald layered tips to make it harder. I soak it first though before pressing.
Try pressing a Sniper and see how it plays.

press them, soak them, milk duds........... please help me ...

In most cases any soft tip will firm up after several hour of play. Pressing just helps to speed up that process. By the time your tip has flattened out and mushroomed it is effectively pressed.

If it's still too soft after breaking it in, try taking a little height off the tip. That will help firm it up. If that doesn't do it, try a different kind of tip.
