Has anyone used this finish from Atlas?

yes I tried it a couple years ago.. it comes with no instructions and was realy thin for an epoxy finish which made it hard to work with...

I'm new to trying to finish a shaft

I have tried it a couple times and it hasn't worked out for me yet. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I'm spinning the shaft at about 1200 rpm, i use a home depot CA, I put a paper towel under the shaft and i pour the CA from the top. I go back and forth over the area a couple times. Then i let it sit for a while.

Then i come back and add some more CA. The problem i have is when i try to sand it out. It looks good on the wood, but when i get to the collar i always seem to get a cream colored line through the CA. And it doesn't come out. I have to try again.

What im i doing wrong? Is it not drying all the way? Am i spinning the shaft too fast when sanding? I'm using 1500 and 2000 grit sand paper.

Should i sand with water?

Any help would be great.
 
CBI. your are spinning the cue too fast when appling your ca. Try spinning at 200 or 300 rpm. I like to apply upwards of at least 10 coats of thin ca to the shaft. You will want to make sure the prev. coat is dry befor apply any additional.

spin the shaft slower 500 or less and apply one coat of thin super at at a time.let it dry then apply another.10 is good but 7-8 should also work.then wet sand with something coarser.that super glue is hard stuff.then go up to 1200 grit then 2000 grit both wet then light compund then polish.
 
You can do a real nice finish with thin CA. You have to spin it slow and don't go back and forth over it. Let it dri completely before applying more. A super glue accelerator may help.
Also, make sure you have VERY GOOD ventilation. The fumes from this stuff is BAD for you. Careful!
