Has your local pool hall (here in the US) opened back up yet?

I hear ya. I just keep hearing the " coronavirus is the planet getting even" crap over-n-over. Its a virus that, based on a lot on info, was released on purpose so China could prove their "medical prowess". True? WTF knows. BTW, we'll all start polluting the air again soon enough. Planning a "cheap gas" roadtrip already. ;)

China sells things they make to the World, why would they want to kill off all their customers, it would kill their thriving ecomony?

I think it is appropriate to attempt to deal with the pandemic at a State level, at least initially.

The Fed would have a hard time developing a strategy that would effectively deal with both NYC and some small town that has yet to see large exposure%s.

Should the State' efforts be deemed insufficient, you bet the Fed will step in.
And NOBODY is going to like that.

The state part I agree with, but how do you mean the feds will step in? The federal government started calling people back last week to telework and this week those same people are on site. Next week even more come back to meet at minimum 25% of capacity, this is all branches. Right now the GSA is restructuring for announcement of full TOD on May 1st (although we'll see, a lot of people want to continue staying at home and getting paid, can't blame them there).

Given the return to duty preparations, growing organized protests and widespread saturation the federal government has shown they're folding their hand in anything but emergency support. That said, I haven't read anything about post-quarantine regulations, but it's looking like the only way the feds will be involved is through funding (no barricades, camps, searches, etc...). That surprises, as that means that the feds consider this to be too massive or not important enough, after all they do step in during natural disasters.

Comically on other sites there is debate about the 10th Amendment or National Guard Vs. state police, however, that scenario is textbook revolution el grand (although some would argue that simultaneous high and petty treason rationalizes to a coup). None of that is going to happen over this.

I am not privy to any direct info, but you can bet the Fed is monitoring the situation on a regular basis and has established milestones for measuring progression of both the virus and our country's response to it.

Should responses be found acceptable as per measures, a different set of subsequent actions would follow, vs. the responses being deemed unacceptable.

Huh?
I don't think your preventative approach is gonna yield the success rate a reasonable individual requires.

Every time I get groceries I’m exposed more than if I go to the pool hall. During the day the pool hall has way less people in it and it’s easier to keep a reasonable distance.

China sells things they make to the World, why would they want to kill off all their customers, it would kill their thriving ecomony?

Several reasons.

The communist government wants to reduce their population. Families only being allowed to have one child is not enough. If they can reduce their population by a million or so and destroy the economy of the major powers, they will be in a much stronger position. Almost everything is made over there.

Purely speculation on my part but it’s not unrealistic.

but adding another potential- and unnecessary- possible exposure source isnt 'less' of a risk, really.

I believe your comments above is on the money, most of the time when I go play Pool, it's is in the early hour of the day, the room I most play in has 28 or 29 Tables. Most of the time maybe if the place is busy. We might have a MAXIUM of 7 or 8 tables being used.

This is a private facility owned by the Community were I live. We have a janitorial staff, cleaning daily, Pool Balls are checked out, and normally cleaned between users.

I have my own Pool Ball Set, so I am the only person using them.

Was at Trader Joe's yesterday, Wal-Mart the day before. Most of the people were practing social distancing. But you got to go to the store to shop.

Those store are more people per square foot, then our Pool Facility.

Be safe but do not let Nuckelheads influence your thinking, make your own decisions, unless you in Jail or Prision. Then the staff will tell you how to live your life, until your time is up.

Not working and hiding in my house for the next year or two till maybe some vaccine is made is just as hazardous to my life as taking proper caution at the pool hall is.

We take risks every day. Everyone balances those risks.

The "six-foot separation" is bogus. More than one study has shown that 10ft should be considered minimum and CDC recommends TWENTY feet. Poolroom won't be a safe bet for some time. Don't be surprised if a lot of people get sick when bars/clubs/poolrooms re-open.

Just went on CDCs web site. They are still showing six feet minimum
WHO site says 3 feet. Not that I trust those a-holes

That is not actually true though...unless you have a medical condition and you are talking about foregoing necessary medical care.

Yes, we take risks every day. Again, adding additional risk of catching coronavirus is...adding additional risk.

Last I read Sweden's death rate is exceeding that of the US and in fact has one of the highest COVID-!9 death rates in the world.

ya, givemesomeodat

we have high death rates but not as high as belgium and italy, spain, france. huge cultural difference though, since all four of those countries do the hug and kiss greeting which i imagine had a significant impact in the beginning of the spread.

but no, i'm not a huge fan of the approach of our government - or rather our top medical dictator, since all our countries right now are more or less governed by medical experts. it's a huge gamble.

so you are out/ about daily...this could be fine, given your area's saturation rate...or it could be a death sentence to you or someone else.

no easy call, though is is crystal clear your routine is more important to you than others' concerns about the virus are.

With all the panic over contamination in the billiard halls, and the necessity to stay away "for the good of the community ", I suggest that those so afraid of catching the death bug SEND ME THE CASH!! After all, everyone touches the money and I don't think it is sterilized very often 😉. Please feel free to send me the contaminated cash. Thank you in advance.

In Arizona you are an adult under the law at 18 years old, as ddults you are considered to be able to make your own decisions.

At 14 with parent concent you use to be able to get a Tattoo, yes that was Arzona law years ago.

Do some crimes at 13 you could be charge as an adult. If convinced you will serve in a Jr. Prision, at 18 you got to Big House.

It all about choices, no one says anyone has to do anything.

If Pool Rooms open you do not have to go, if you work there, are called to work & refuse, of I was you employeer you would be replace you with a new worker.

If you go down to support the local room, and do not feel safe, go back to were you feel safe.

Please do not say someone could die, people die everyday from accidents, drug overdose, gang violence, where your concern about that?

Didn't answer a single question posed...

Sounds like those big brass ones and closer to little brass BBs.

You don't take precautions you might as well play Russian Roulette.

Money is very very very dirty. But today on my walk I saw a Dime in the road, and picked it up, put in pocket, now my coin jars is a dime richer.

Wonder if I will have to declair that income on my 2020 taxes?

CDC are the bad guys now?

Lou Figueroa
wow

I never said the CDC was bad. The WHO should be tarred and feathered. I would have pulled their funding a month before President Trump did and gave it to our CDC to completely overhaul their system.
