Have you ever had an old Dufferin sneaky pete (from Canada) converted?

I wanted to add this to an existing Dufferin thread. I figured people would be thrilled with resurrecting a thread started by justinb386 as well. 🤪 :ROFLMAO:

I have several Dufferins in storage but came on these more recently. I didn't pay much attention to the ones I had in the past, just kept them. I don't even have any records or pics of them, so I don't even know what I have.
That has changed.

I got the butterfly recently on AZB which had the proprietary 5/16x14 Glider Joint pin (similar to the Pechauer Speed Joint) with a standard 5/16x14 pin. It came with a 28 inch shaft, but I have a like new 29 inch original that fits perfectly. And of course, other shafts now fit with the standard pin. I also got the middle cue and green leaf cue.

The butterfly cue plays excellent with the Dufferin 29 shaft, and of course Joss, Scruggs, etc. shafts..

Quiz: Do any of you know what that middle cue is? (Yes, I do.) The same Dufferin shafts do fit it, notice the pin is stainless and not brass though.

Does anybody have any idea if the Pechauer piloted Speed Joint shafts fit this pin? I have one, but it's in storage.

Nice cues. Good thing about ebony Dufferins, is they're a lot easier to find than ebony Titlist blanks. Plus, you have the option of finding those with the butterfly splice section. Nice looking.

You can still get them new in Canada (Asian made). I wonder why they are not imported to the US like so many other current Dufferin cues. Could it be the ebony?

I am astonished how nice they play with the 29 inch pro taper OEM Dufferin shaft. Of course with even better shafts they are even nicer.

The 28 inch Dufferin OEM shafts play "ok"...nothing so great.

The green leaf plays nice, but it does not have the satisfying feel of the ebony. Yeah, that's all in my head I know, but who does not want it to feel good?

i believe its hard to import the good gaboon ebony anymore as the trees are getting endangered.

While going through my collection the last few days I found my JP cue with the Speed Joint.

I tried it on the Dufferin Glider joint.

If fits! At least on my old cue with the brass pin. On the newer one with the stainless (chrome brass?) pin, it seems the pin is about a milimerter or two too long, the shaft can't quite seat.

Pechauer joints are fat, and were even fatter a few years ago like my cue, so the diameter is slightly large for the Dufferin cues., but I am very happy to have the matter settled as far as whether or not they are compatible.
