Have you had a pool cue stolen?

What's your stolen cue story?

I was reading the stolen cue thread and it made me wonder about the stories that go along with the missing cues. Most of the posts don't mention how they were stolen. A few mention having a car broken into.

I'm always on high alert walking in or out of a pool hall with my expensive cue and case tucked tightly under my arm as I scan the parking lot for trouble. Luckily, I haven't become a victim yet. What about you?
No, and I always took my cue to the can with me.

I caught someone just as he was putting my cue in the back of his SUV.
Another time I was talking to some people and from the corner of my eye watched this
girl walk from all the way across this huge room to where my cue was leaning against the wall all by itself.
Probably should have been holding on to it in that den of thieves, but I had an eye on it.
Never actually lost one, but I've had some times when I wasn't paying attention and got lucky.

Back in the 80's I had a Huebler and an Adams stolen from the pool hall. Hanging out with a bunch of the regulars and we stepped out front to watch some 3 card monte, a buddy left his cue (in the case) on the table I left mine by the table and chairs (cues in case), came back in 10-15 minutes later and mine was gone. His was sitting right where he left it. We came to the conclusion they saw my cues and wanted them.

The Adams was my fathers that he gave to me. Huebler was pawn shop find.

Yeah , I thought someone was my friend and he and one of his buddies stole my very early Tad.
I made the mistake of having too much to drink and that was what they were waiting on.
There were a bunch of goofy circumstances that went on, so that I never did get the cue back , even though I was willing to go to war with both of the creeps.
The buddy died and my supposed friend went to prison where he belonged , so , if you ever see the most beautifully figured Birds Eye maple cue with no ring at the butt , that used to be mine.
