Since I have re-established my love of three cushion billiards in the last couple years I have noticed many of the current great champions are also the sons of carom champions. I seem to get some of the players mixed up with their relatives because I haven't played much or payed attention to the game in more than 25 years. As an example there is Eddy Leppens, father was great, also Thorbjorn Bloomdahl, Dad was great, and of course there are the Culeman's. There is a player by the name of Rubin Lagazipi from Spain who has caught my eye recently, his dad was also a great player. Watch out for Rubin, he is an excellent player and I believe he will a greater force to be reckoned with in the future. Could this skill be in their genes? Does anyone know more players that are related to other great players

Dan; My Father wasn't a GREAT player, but a solid 7.00-7.50 player.
In 1992, in Chicago they held the first ever US Nationals at Chris's Billiards, my Dad and I were the first Father n Son in a Nationals!

great players

Bill, From what I remember, back in the day a 7.00 to 7.50 player was a great player! I know of both you and your father and I think you and your dad have done a lot for the sport throughout the years and you continue to do so to this day!, so kudos to you and your dad. So if you would!, please put some of those billiard genes your dad gave you in a jar and market them to some of us whom many consider to be underprivileged, underwhelmed, and are having to deal with a serious affliction known as "BILLIARD GENE DEFICIENCY' and other maladies specific to carom billiards!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Bill this is Billy in NW Florida. I got your book. Slowly working through it. When you say an average of 7 you mean 0.7? I don't fully understand how players ranking and averages are figured. I messed around on my table with a pool cue (to 40 points) and averaged about 0.35-0.4. After I took your advice with the Tiger cue I am averaging 0.5-0.7. Thanks !!

Dan; That's exactly what I've tried to do with my book and DVD's, I can only hope I've made a change, (for the better) in player's games!

I will continue yo do so until I can no longer effectively be a positive element in the 3 Cushion community!

Yes, I have noticed that as well... I sometimes google the players I like to watch and they seem to have a parent or something that is really into the game as well. Maybe not in their genes but I guess if they grow up with the influence of someone that plays then surely, they must have a strong motivation for playing. Or maybe it is their genes (although I really hope it is not because that would mean I must really lack those genes).
