I'm tring to figure out what woods I want used in my next cue.I'm think of using snakewood in the points and from the rap down.Joint material Ivory with a G10 pin.I don't want a high gloss finish I'm thinking of a satin more or matted finish. Will the snake wood polish well.

Figured snakewood is usually a bit unstable. Some makers have had snakewood handles simply crack or break for no apparent reason, even when cored. If you are going to have a wrap, as in linen or leather, then there is absolutely no reason to have a snakewood handle. The points can be traditional spliced points or flat bottom inlays, and the sleeve can be snakewood, but not underneath the wrap.

What wood should I use with a similar grain but with strength. And I should have better explained where I want the sanke wood.Just in the points 4 or 6 undecided and on the butt of the cue.I don't want a wrap so I've yet to decide what to do there.

I myself am a big satin finish fan as well...like the early SW cues. The snakewood will polish nicely & look fine with the satin.
