Having a tip with multiple shapes

Really? You have nothing left to say about the actual arguement so you're going onto references? Do you need footnotes for this post?

Whatever happened to saying "Gee, I didn't know that. Thanks for teaching me something new today!" I suppose that's hard to say with a foot in your mouth...

I have plenty to say about the actual argument, but there is no sense in repeating it.

As far as that goes, just stooping to Jude's level, ie getting nit-picky and personal. If he want's to get all tehcnical, then maybe he should do a more thorough job, or maybe that is too hard for him without the help of his famous "shot xx: what woudl you do?" and pool table diagrams?

Actually, if you are citing mineral properties, the properties are in a table or published somewhere, or do you have them memorized?

Okay, yes. I'm guilty of plagarism. Sue me.

1 Question..........

How hard is it for people to understand that the issue IS NOT whether chalk is abrasive or not?

The issue is that JUDE asserted:
1) 99.9% of all tip shaping is done by the chalk
2) The tip's shape is determined by the contour of the chalk
3) Hitting the cue ball does noting to the tip.

That is all anyone has questioned and JUDE is the one who started getting all uppity when people questioned him on this.

FOR FVCK'S SAKE PEOPLE......READING IS FUNDAMENTAL (RIF)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, did everybody lose their internet connection all at once? Can ANYONE tell me the chemical composition of chalk?

Sorry for the delayed response Jude.

You see, I'm NOT an internet legend like you. I actually have to grind it out behind a computer and a desk for a living. I know. It sucks. But maybe one day with a little luck and a lot of practice, I'll be super-awesome at telling people how shots should have been played by using cuetables and stuff like that. Maybe then, I can retire from the professional life and be an internet SUPERSTAR just like you.

Do I know what chalk is made of? Well, now I do. I know because I googled it (just like you) and found the same answers, just like you.

See? I'm already halfway there! I'll be an internet superstar in no time!!!

There are pages upon pages of silly responses (some even by you) about what chalk can do. So I responded in kind. I mean, if we were going to be silly, why not get really silly? Then, I got back to the topic and figured, why not talk about the chemical composition of chalk. It did a lot for my argument.

You should review this thread a bit closer. The attitude was not initiated by me. It wasn't initiated by you either but definitely NOT me.

Oh and yes, the topic is about tip shaping. If it's not, I don't know what to say. You think I did the math on "99.9%"? LOLOLOLOLOL

It did absolutely nothing to support your assertions that chalk does 99.9% of tip shaping or that the shape of your tip is determined by the contours of the chalk. BTW, Jude, can I borrow a piece of dime radius chalk?

Also, it does nothing to back your claim that tip contact with the cue ball does nothing to the tip. I guess mushrooming and tip flattening happen by some miraculous event?

Still waiting for a cuetable diagram so you can say, "See, I have proved my point."

You must have because you seem to be so adamant about it. Or is that just another, it is that way because I, Jude, say it is?

Jude Rosenstock said:
I can't. There aren't enough balls in a cuetable diagram.

Wow, something that Jude can't use a cuetable diagram to show his omnipotence with. Hell must have frozen over in the last couple of seconds.

Really, so this whole thing didn't start by you claiming that my non-existent wife thinks that your "chalk" is bigger than mine?

Hmmmmm. I guess I got the wrong thread then.

My bad.

Okay, so would it comfort you if I just said, "Almost all tip shaping is done with chalk"? I'll retract my initial claim and just say that if it can put this discussion about semantics to rest.

Pharoah, I was having fun with you and figured that was pretty obvious and I was responding to the fun you were having with me. Do you want me to go through your posts here, too?

Look, if it bothered you, I'm sorry. I was just having fun and didn't mean anything by it. I hope you and your girlfriend live happily ever after (seriously).

If it makes you feel better and gives you warm fuzzies...lol

You are the one who said 99.9%, I don't think semantics has any role when you throw a number like that out there.

I say you both meet in vegas for a TARpit grudge match ... pharoh can heckle Jude from the sidelines.

Do you actually have something to say or do you want to continue the static?

Then okay, so be it. I am wrong, not 99.9% but instead MOST tip shaping is done with chalk.

You *****es are going down! I suck at pool but I'm up for all contests of nerdery.

Anyone want to have a mathletics competition as an undercard for the next TAR matchup? I'll give you guys the indefinite integrals and the breaks...:p
