Ronnie has some rare abilities in his game that few men achieve in any discipline. He talked at the end like he wanted to quit. In a few years when his game starts to slowly leave him he will wish he was back at the crucible in the form he was in this week. He should ride the wave while he can. Life is short, time playing a sport at its highest level is even shorter.

Ronnie quitting = tragic waste of talent.

Ronnie has been saying that for years. Although I can understand if he wants to out on a high note, but I believe he will be back.

Two years ago he was saying how bored he was with snooker, he later changed his mind.

I dont believe he is going anywhere, I watched the whole interview-match live. Here is my take on it.

He is gifted like no other has been to the best of my knowlege. When you get something for free like trust fund babies you have a zillion dollars you do weird shit like sell all your jets, palaces, fire your servants etc and move to Tibet to feed rice to starving kids....for a while, until you miss the cashmire blankets in the back of your private jet flying to where ever the weather is nice to keep up with your friends. Those kind of people are lost and Ronnie is too. There he was where everyone who ever loved snooker wanted winning the world championship is grand fashion and he was so uncomfortable with the situation he couldnt handle it, as the interview went on he got worse, he couldnt enjoy the moment past 2-3 minutes, 30 seconds after the camersa moved from Ali Carter on to him he was fidgeting around

If you notice the interview started ok, then Ronnie started to fall apart about his plans of the future, he cant let himself get comfortable because he didnt earn it to an extent it was a gift, to those who argue that point then why cant everyone have a live white like he does when he is break building, he devlopes reds like no one becaue his white is live when he hits the pile perfectly and it stops perfectly, thats his gift. So he cant and will never be comfortable for reasons he probably dosent know-just like the idol rich who feel uneasy about having too much $$$. Having a gift can be a curse.

He aint going anywhere. Whats he gonna do? be a cook, a mill worker, or write books in the Alps about mythical beings???? no he will play and be on the edge till he falls off it in 10 more years. He runs to escape his troubles and puts his mind in another spot-a good decision for him.

his talent, Hendrys brain then you might have Efren.:D

ronnie does not need hendry's brain he is the best purest player in the world his skills are better than anyones, efren is good but he is not like ronnie. im not saying ronnie would be good at pool cause he would not just that he has taken cueing to another level with snooker the game he has close to perfected, i dont see that level of skill with anyone else

people compare hendrys and ronnie tournament wins well there are lots of better players now than when hendry won his world titles, but even more important than that is hendry lived for snooker. it was everything to him that is a huge motivater that ronnie does not have as he is not as interested in playing ,but im sure as uninterested as he is he will win another 2 worlds and make more tons than anyone.

the difference now i noticed with ronnie the last few years is he can blow anyone away anytime he has total belief, even when he is not interested or is playing badly he just gets on with his game. i think before when he was not happy or has stresses off the table it would affect him alot more, now he has better cruise control i think he is the best snooker player ever and i know alot of current pro's think the same as me with hendry second.

I don't think he'll quit, he's been saying that for years, plus I doubt his woman would be too pleased with that decision

His mental game is stronger than ever, he was able to win the final match off form, a younger Ronnie may have become frustrated and broken down

for all is ability, if he doesn't win at least 2-3 more titles including next season it will be dissapointing

If wikipedia information is correct then ronnie doesn't need snooker to have a good living. He owns a profitable company that he inherited from his dad (or so the story goes.) If that is true then he really is spoiled idol wealth. If you put Tiger Wood's mental stability in the body of ronnie then sh#t you might have someone who wouldn't lose a tournament for the next 10 years. But all that talk doesn't mean anything, coulda, shoulda, woulda, if, perhaps, maybe all meaningless words.
