What do other mechanics do as far as the head and foot spots go? I will typically do both unless asked otherwise.

I always just ask the customer which end(s) to put them. I also leave them a couple extra for replacements. They're cheap and it shows good customer service!

When I put a table in the room for a customer I tell them where the table will go in respect to the H+F etc. Then a spot is placed at the foot and a circle drawn if they have a clue. Otherwise its easier for them to know that they just have to rack at the foot. A circle at the H for spotting balls is all that is needed. IMO

this is a good thread, if your a mech state your case, if NOT, why are you even here.

and in case your wondering, I am having a bad day

If I am installing a new table, I explain Head and Foot to them and they only get a spot on the foot end. If I am re-clothing a table I usally just do it however it was before. I see 1 spot on some tables and 2 spots on other tables, either way is ok with me.

Whats your favorite brand of spots to use? I like the ones that come with Brunswick tables , does anyone know who makes them? I use the Tefco spots alot but am looking for a better brand.

Hey Bob,
Great question..I use the roll of peel and stick from Rafer Billiards. But they don't always stick so good so I spray them with spray adhesive. I was recently setting up a GC III for a guy who had a tin of Tefco peel and stick spots. I had only ever seen the ones you lick and stick. The peel and stick worked great. I have been looking for a price on them to see if it is worth while.

The Tefco just recently changed to peel and stick.
Have never seen them in rolls, only tins of 12

Generally I just put the foot spot unless asked otherwise.
Zaid Thweib had me put them on either end, but most of the people around here just want foot spots. I pretty much just use the Tefco Master spots, and always leave one or two behind for the customer, never had a complaint for free spots!lol;)

gotta be better

I have always used these but the last few years they were terrible quality, much thicker and the balls would roll off when rolling over them.

Who handles the new self stick ones ? I get all my stuff from Cue Stix

thanks

Tefco spots come from Tweeten.

First of all I am not a mechanic, but have on occasion put a few tables together. On my own tables I use a quality stick on spot on the foot spot and then use a marker to mark the head spot. I also use the marker for the center of the table.
