Heading to Seattle area this long weekend

I have a 4 day weekend coming up and I was wondering if any of my friends from the Pacific Northwest can tell me where the best tournaments are? Thursday night I plan on heading to Daverthumps in Lynnwood. I have played there twice before years ago and I hope it's as good as it was.

Friday the only ones I know of are at PC's in Everett or at the Legion in Oak Harbour.

Saturday and Sunday are open so any ideas for these two nights would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'll see you there...I will have to pick up a Break magazine.
 
Let me know where you plan on being on Saturday and I'll try and make it down and give you some 8X10 photos I took of you at the AZB Tourney last month. I am going to be tied up Friday and Sunday but should have some free time Saturday afternoon/early evening.

The Log Cabin Bar & Grill in Sumner has a Saturday afternoon tourney, starts around 2pm, $5 8-ball double elimination. This is a tough tourney with some very good players.

The Schooner Pub in Lakewood has a Saturday night tourney starting at 7pm sharp. $5 entry, double elimination 8-ball, again....with some very game players.

Sunday afternoons there's a $5 double elimination 8-ball tourney at City Lights in Tacoma, very nice tables and very good competition.

Don't forget Mike's Place in Renton where they hold $5 entry 8 ball tournaments every Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm. They also have a B tournament that you could win on Saturday at 2. The TD won't let me play. :(

It's on exit 5 off 405, go E up the hill and take a right at the first light. Mike's Place is on your right. Get there early enough and you get a seat at the fireplace. Some home-cooked specials every so often. ;)

Thanks Linda. That sounds a lot better than Oak Harbour for Friday. I'll have all day Friday to find the place. :D Which pool hall is close by? I hope to take a long walk around Seattle sometime either Friday or Saturday and check it out. Hopefully I will see you sometime this weekend.
 
I think the closest ph is Harvey's in Renton, but I wouldn't suggest walking from one to the other. :eek: Hwy 167 is exit 2 off of 405 (Mike's Place is exit 5) and Harvey's exit from Hwy 167 is 180th. Harvey's is located just off the exit when you take a left at the stoplight, and before you hit the first stoplight after the turn.

A little off subject - but I was playing in Great Falls a couple weeks ago (tournament with $5,000 added --- payout was $6,000+ and a calcutta over $12,000 and 4 IPT players) and who do you think I ran into? I haven't seen him in 20+ years and I just got to the bar room and Cole came up to me and gave me a big hug, hand shake and "Hi, Jackie, what you doing here". Tell Mike Z that Cole can still play. He beat a player from Seattle area named Chris (wife is Anna - from Australia) at the end of the evening on Saturday after a long day (you know what I mean) - those balls just went straight in - no wobble - didn't even touch the sides of the pockets. Talked to him a few days ago, he is coming over to play some pool with me ---- we are going have some fun!
 
I want to find the time to go down to Harvey to check out some Dave Tice cues, I heard there are a few up there.

I'll be heading out in a few minutes. My idea right now is to hit Lynnwood tonight and go to Daverthumps. I'd like to go to Seattle tomorrow and look around before I hit Mike's Place for the tourney and get a motel there. I hope to play in the Saturday afternoon tourney before heading to see f@asteddie and Lisa in Sedro Wooley. Sunday I will try to hit the Alger tourney before heading home. Don, if I make it to Sedro Wooley I will give you a call.

I will....... and I think it will be more than an evening! I think his drive is about 6 hours.
 
Not sure if you will see this, but the Woolley shoot at the Overflow starts @ 7 pm, getting there around 5:30-6:00 pm is your best bet. Sometimes that shoot is very fickle...it is either dead as a door nail, or already filled by 6:30-7:00 pm. There is no real rhyme or reason to it.

I'll see what I can do about getting out to play Saturday night...depends on if the ol' man gives me money to play or not...lol. If I can get out to play, I usually get there fairly early, and I will have them hold a spot for ya!

Here I sit on the lobby computer at the Hotel International in Lynnwood (It's a dive ) Yesterday I arrived at around 3 and went to Uncle Jack's and hit a few ball on Table 7. I felt good and was hitting the ball better than I had in weeks. I had an incredible Salmon dinner there that I recommend to anyone. They are having a $25 tourney there on Saturday starting at 10. I'm not really interested because it's 9 ball. I went to Daverthumps and had a great time and met some great people. There were actually a couple of guys who remembered me from the time I was there 4+ years ago. I also ran in to Dave Tice who I sat with a good portion of the night and talked about Cicchitti's and all the players we knew. He really liked my cue LOL which he said was one of tthe nicest Predators he had ever seen. Kind of ironic for a cuemaker. He's another one of the good guys in pool. The pool world is very small isn't it? I just loved playing on those tables and shot really well. I ended up third and was dead on my feet when I left at 1:30 AM. I definitely plan on playing there again the next time I have a Friday off. I recommend it to everyone. Right now the desk guy is staring at me so I better get going. I'm off to Dr. Cue right now as it was recommended last night as a place I might find some action. See you tonight Linda and I'll see Ed, Lisa and maybe lunchmoney tomorrow at the Overflow.

Well here I sit at the Best Western in Mount Vernon. I had a very good day playing a fellow named Rich at Dr Cue's which is a very nice pool hall with some fantastic equipment. I was watching Joe Chun playing one pocket and on another table Dan Louie was giving lessons that I would sneak a listen to between shots. It was a very good time and I will definitely go there again some day when I can. I met Linda and Mike Z at Mike's Place in Renton. I did not realize it was a one and done tournament and my first opponent snapped the 8 in for a win. Needless to say my enthusiasm kind of disappeared. I played a nice old guy who I had been visiting with on the B side and I was very nice and let him win so I could get some sleep and get ready for 2 tournaments tomorrow in Sedro Wolley. So far it has been enjoyable even though tonight's results were not what I was expecting after my good performance last night in that shark tank. Oh well, that's pool.
 
Alger Tavern - Sunday

Hey, if you have time on your way back home on Sunday.....the Alger Tavern has a double elimination tourney and I hear a LARGE 9-ball pot ;)

I can't remember for sure but, I think the shooting begins at 6 pm....it used to be at 4 before we started ours at the Village :D
