Heckuva Auction On Ebay!!

Lisa

One hell of an auction that I too will watch.
I am sure I will not have the money for 3 cues like those.

I would be willing to bet anyone this auction goes over $3,000.00

Well, even if it does go over 3K, that's still a deal, considering the avg sale price for a SW on the 'bay is around $2500, and here you are looking at 2 SW's...the Weston is just icing...Lol. You don't often see a purpleheart-nosed cue from Skip...heck, you don't see many cues from him in purpleheart, period. He uses it primarily in his 'veneers'.

He wants $5000.00 for all of it. Don't think it will get there. And BTW, there are lots of SW going for less, in several places. Marcus just had one go for under $1800, I think, and it was a Franklin, just like one of these. There is also the plain jane silk from Dick Abbot for $1500.00.

My guesstimation on the approximate values of the cues is as follows:

JF SW: $2500-2700 considering condition
SW #2: $1500-1700 due to lack of veneers and rings
Skip W: $800-1000 what it's sold for recently
Case: $100-150 I don't really have a clue here just throwing out numbers...lol.

That brings a grand total between $4900 and $5550. What do you guys think of my prices? I basically just wanted to see if I could get close to the "market value" of the cues! :D :D

In light of this post perhaps my numbers on the southwests are a little high...lol.

User name has been changed 3 times.
I did however ask for pictures of the SW pins just to see if this guy actually has the cues and is not another eBay scammer like we saw at the beginning of the week.

Id guess that the auction easily hits 4000.00 If I was the winner I would make sure the cues could be picked up and paid for in person. Its just too much money.....and I dont buy the 3.00 a gallon gas excuse to sell such a nice collection.

If the auction is legit(I have no reason to believe it isn't) I would say this guy is making a mistake selling them together. Seperately they will bring the highest prices. This type of auction means 99% of the high end cue buyers on the bay will be priced out of the auction. You just lose too many potential buyers by grouping them together.

looks legit to me.too much paranoia here sometimes.you guys might be missing out on some good deals.

1995 JF- $2250(19.5 with ebony front is rare)if condition was better $2500 all day long

1999- $2000 if it is 95%+ i don't see why this cue is any less than $2000

Skip- $600 i know as well as anyone skip probably makes a better cue than Southwest but this cue won't do any better than that.looks leave a little to be desired.

these are my guesses at market value

Zeed,

Me thinks you pretty close. Plain SW...about right, the Skip was built to my specs and priced out new at $1450 (so whatever you figure used). This JF South West is a really, really nice cue.....ebony nose at 19.5 ounces and with SW joint caps. I would think that's a SOLID $2500. Somebody's gonna get a nice deal with this auction.

Your prices look bout right ASSUMING everything is as it should be......60% would be bout 3 dimes....hmmmmmmm:)

I'll bet this auction doesn't go the full distance. Someone will make him an offer for one or two of them and he will sell.

At the bottom of the description:

"The Conditions:
Folks, please pay attention to this section. First off, the cues are being offered for sale locally, so if one of them sells I will stop this auction and relist whatever is left."

He told me that they could be picked up in person, which was one of my first questions. And would consider offers on each cue.

Sean;

This SW is 85% per the ad, and has been worked on by another cuemaker, name unknown. Marcus just finished an auction for a similar cue, 6 point ebony, in better condition and original-$1930.00. Another, again in much better condition was auctioned off by another Azer on ebay, $2250.00 to INDYQ. The highest a SW has gone for on ebay recently is $2450.00 by Vass, and that was an exceptional cue. Would you pay 2500.00 for that cue? You might try to sell it for that, and it might happen, but not on the open market like ebay. That cue, my guess, is worth about $1500.00-$1700.00, The other SW, $1800.00 maybe. The Skip, a lucky $1200.00 and the case, $300.00 to a Porper fan. About $5000.00 if sold separately. Together, about $3800.00 to $4300.00 on a good day. All retail prices. Just my thoughts on the value, but your idea that that SW was a solid $2500.00 cue was a little shocking, as I respect, and have bought cues from you guys. BTW, I still need a good Searing or Fancy Tasc.

Mike

auction almost 3500.00 already....
i agree- he definitely should have listed them separately... that was my first thought when i saw the auction... BUT if his real intention was to fish out offers and end and relist whats left then skip some of the fleabay fees,,,,,,,
imho
JF SW around 2200 on the lower end <nice cue with ebony nose>
other SW around 1900-2000
Skip around 900.000 <real nice looking skip>
so 5k ish sounds about a solid market price... definitely not a 'steal' but a solid price... <if the cues are in good shape,,,,,>

Mike,

Ebony nose SWs, even the played ones, always fetch premium money. I don't think the wrap hurts it much...not as much as the light weight at 19.5 and the joint caps help it. In our experience 95+% of ebony nosed SWs are 20+oz. When you can get at a playable weight of 19.5 or below even, they are super movers. Wouldn't shock me at all if this cue alone would fetch $2500+, especially to an overseas buyer. Even played, I would think it's $500-$700 more than the plain one. Just my opinion and I've been wrong before.
