Another shooter from Maine here. Getting back into shooting pool after a few years layoff. I need something a bit safer than ice hockey. Just turned 50 and found out that I don't have the body of a 20 year old, Lol.
A funny story from my past. Last time I really shot pool was when I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. At the golf course bar, Awase Meadows, a Marine Corps facility, they had a pool table that was broken in half between the side pockets. And of course one side (half?) was about 1/4" higher than the other. Talk about learning the table break and bounces and rolls. No foul if the cueball jumped off the table from the crack.
This seems to be a very active and serious site for pool so I'm looking forwards to learning a bunch of advice from all you nice people.

Welcome to the forum. 1/4 is a lot of deflection, I can only imagine the tricks you could do with that. You will have more fun here then you did on that 2 level table:smile:. It has been awhile since I was in Maine, There is some good fishing up there.

Welcome... I have played a few times in Maine. Never on a two level table though.

Semper Fi bro!

Welcome, and good move on giving up the hockey. I'm a year younger than you and just gave up my competitive b-ball in March after a massive rotator cuff tear. I stay in good shape but at our age everytime I went down it sounded like a bag of kindling. I thought the shoulder thing might hurt the pool but I'm back and more cautious about what I do. My wife and I vacationed in Portland, beautiful. Enjoy AZ.

Welcome aboard. The game needs as many people as it can get right now. Hope to see you around the rooms of New England.

Welcome, I assume you are from Topsham. I'm a bit more downeast. Lots of good places to play and good people.
