Hello, Ian Sunderland from MMTV here!

we watched Creedo's MMTV link yesterday, and i'm still singing
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT
the best part, was trying to translate the commentators' English, to english!

I watched part of a a black ball match. There were several interesting things about the breaks. There is a cloth that goes under the balls as they are pulled from the ball return. I've seen this in the US before but not for 30 years or so. It keeps the racking area cleaner. The cloths I've seen here are attached to the triangle.

Neither player had a break cue. I guess that hasn't caught on or is forbidden.

The rack is always in the same pattern and the players are quick to get that pattern. It's not like some 8-ball rackers I've seen in the US who take a few minutes to get a pattern they feel is right.

Yeah the balls are racked in the same pattern each time. Makes it as consistent and as fair of a spread you can get.

The racking cloth is tradition here, besides, Brits are very tight about our money, so we want to get the most out of the cloth :)

No need for a break cue in English 8 ball. The balls are really light and you are only breaking from around 4ft away. I've tried breaking with an American type cue, 12.5mm tip I think it was and the CB just flies off the table most times. Also hard to tell where you're hitting the CB when the tip covers most of the ball. They generally soft break too because they need an accurate hit on the stupidly small white ball.
