Hello,
This is my first post here on AZ and would like to greet all of you fellow pool players. Let me introduce myself. Many of you I already know from Usenet RSB and ASP. My nick was SSCS and I recently changed it. I have been playing for 33 years (off and on). I have been taught by Hal Houle and Tony Annigoni and several other players that have kicked my backside over the years. I am currently an APA 6 (at least this week I am :P).

I caught the billiard bug so much that I built my own pooltable from the ground up (see it here... http://pooltable.kirchelconsulting.com don't worry its free) I hope to learn a lot and hopefully help some.

Later,

Johnny "V"

Welcome SSCS !

Yes, I remember your posts from rsb, I was sort of active there many years ago...

Having been taught by Hal, how did you go about admitting that on RSB without getting ridiculed and stoned to death by the science geek infidels?

Hi Johnny V,

Welcome to AZ. You must be located somewhere in Northern Ca because I know Tony A and Hal lives over in the East Bay. We should get together a play some pool.

Nice Table!!

Welcome Johnny V! If your looking for advice, tips, action, meeting other pool fanatics and just straight up BS, this is the place to be. I like the table you built, looks great!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forums mate. I checked your table out, really nice job you did. So how's it play? Sounds like something I'll have to try out.

You got it... Most of those arguments ended in "What a crock!!!" :)

I have my own ideas on why Hals methods work. And yes I do use them even till today. Meeting with Hal is a lot more than him showing you his systems. He is a heck of a guy and very knowledgable about many things.

The scary thing is after you have been shown 10 different aiming systems, when you get down on a shot, you have 10 different ways to look at it.

Thank you! Yes, I use to live in Tracy California. I now live in Rockledge FL (moved around 10 months ago). Man you should see the difference in how serious pool is taken here. In California, in a 20 mile radius of my house I had 2 pool halls. In the same radius here in FL I have 6. They even advertise them on the radio. It is awesome!!!

Anyone in Rockledge want to get together... email me.

Johnny V... I have read many posts and do remember seeing your name pop up on RSB. It is no longer any fun to read over there with all of the name calling and attacks going on. I do enjoy the posts over here much more and I am sure that you will too. We don't get too many of the posts from the same folks that muck up RSB. Welcome and enjoy AZ....

Peace, Joe

I'll take it one step further...in his own way the guy is a genius. The geeks will never understand it, will never have an opportunity to learn it, and will continue to bad mouth the systems out of their own mental blocks because it can't necessarily be broken down into a physics equation or geometric diagrams. I love it...it's their loss caused by their own obstinate big mouths and fat heads.

John, I haven't been posting over here long enough to qualify for a welcoming committee, but there are other familiar "voices" already hanging around. Glad you made the trip over too!

Ruben, if you're really interested, I have a PDF file I created from the many posts that hit RSB. It includes the posts I felt contributed to the discussion, regardless of whether they agreed with Hal or not. It's about 365 KBs in size. Let me know.

Bob, I don't know how far back your posts go, but I have a feeling that Hal never revealed much of anything on RSB. I can almost guarantee it, up until about 2-3 years ago. I don't know what he posted prior to that.

What I have starts with a diagram and short blurb by Hal from an old web site, and a post to RSB dated Friday, September 12, 1997. I don't know if he lurks over here or not, but he does over at RSB. Once in awhile, he'll send an email to a regular and ask that it be posted, but because of all the bickering that has taken place, he rarely posts over there anymore. In fact, now that I look again, this might even have been an email exchange with Ron Hudson.

After spending a couple evenings with Hal, I started saving the discussions, intending to try to expand on his work in writing, and ended up with 54 pages, including diagrams! When I posted that I had it on RSB a few months ago, I ended up sending over 50 copies of it out, so there are probably a few over here that have it. I'm not sure we'll ever get closer than this to having it in writing.

I really wish Hal would write down some of his stories from over the years. After all, they go back to the days of Greenleaf!

Here is a drawing of his systems (I hope the attachment works right). As you can see it is very easy to follow. If you find it difficult to follow then you will have to meet with him to have him explain it better. ;)

PS.. Thanks for all the great greetings.
