HELP!! BEST GLUE OR EPOXY for Phenolic Ferrule to Pheolic Icebreaker Tip CoMBO??

I have a monster breaker, player that breaks in the 25 to 30mph range and he has a cue that is not a large MM shaft, it is like 12.2mm.

I tried to talk him into a 13.5 to 14mm break shaft diameter but no go,

Anyway, I installed a Phenolic Black Ferrule, Threaded, Reliefed and this is holding but the Tip was ruff sanded and deep scored and I used a Loctite Flex CA GEL, it held up when I broke 20 to 30 times,

But I only break at 20 to 23 MPH,

My abusive high MPH breaked got the Cue, Broke 7 Times and th Tip popped off clean,


What is the best Epoxy, Glue, Resin to use to really WELD Bond the tip to the Ferrule?

Any advice would be appreciated,

I hate having to redo tip jobs when the tip pops off, My pet peeve, but extremes are out of my normal wheelhouse, so I need the expertise of the Forum on AZ.

I was thinking G10 epoxy 2 part, but want a flex agent to take up the massive 'shock' value on the tip to ferrule bond.

I have been Advised, 3M DP190- Gray or Translucent??

I have ordered a 1.7oz dispenser and a group of mixer needles,

Any other input would be appreciated?


What is the diff between, 3M DP-90, DP-100, DP-190, Etc??

I am doing tips and Ferrules and Jump Break G10 and Phenoilc but want the best Bond possible with some flex agents?

Because these get HAMMERED with the Breaks and Pounding with the impact??

The DP 190 Gray is the high impact with high peel strength.It is semi flexible for an epoxy and is a slow cure.
 
What type of tip are you using?

If it is phenolic why not do a 1 piece tip and ferrule combo

I do a one-piece phenolic ferrule and tip and I've even had two of those broken!! :eek:
One was my fault - I trimmed down the thickness too much. But customer was happy to get a warranty repair.

Sorry to hear that you can only break at 23 mph...... I have had only 2 players that. Have broken the phenolic combo tips and I have installed many..... As for break tips on a ferrule..... They will all pop off eventually...
