Its like I had a seizure or something in my brain is misfiring. 1st place in my APA 9 ball division is ours to lose. 1 night left to go, and thats tomorrow. Last week I fell apart. The Friday night tournament a week before it happened too. All week its been going on.

Its hard to explain it. Mainly because I don't understand it. I miss shots I make 99% of the times My positioning sucks. 4-6 ball runs were common and even a few b&r. Now I am struggling to make 3 in a row. especially if I worry about position.

I am not sure if my eyes are fighting for dominance or my fundamentals are breaking down or what. For the first time tonight I felt like giving the game up I was so aggravated. I can not practice tomorrow do to other commitments. Not playing me tomorrow night is not an option either.

I will have to make 2 appointments if this doesn't go away soon. 1 to my shrink and the other to an instructor.

8up...See the instructor first (make sure they use video review). It will be much cheaper in the long run...plus the psychiatrist can't fix your pool game. The instructor likely can help. :D

Like Scott said see an instructor. If you've already been to one do the drills you were taught which focus on stroke foundation.

I went through the same thing not long ago. Not sure if it's a coincidence, but the drills I started off every practice session with I had abandoned about a month before the shat hit the fan. After two weeks of going downhill I started doing drills again and even added one drill. I immediately started going back uphill again.

im in the same exact boat. several months ago a big life change happened. and since then my game has lost its luster to say the least. ive won our local pool rooms 9ball tournie with 14 b&rs. full field of players. people in my apa league cant stand playing me because i normally win quite easily. and it was effortless to boot! i thought i had a natural knack for pool. I HAVE NEVER taken a lesson. no one has ever showed me anything, even though i grew up around some of pools most recognizable faces over the years. ive never done a single drill. i would just throw balls out and hit em. to give an example. i am an 8 in the apa. i was accustomed to beating anyone i played by an average of 35-40 balls. since this event in my life ive begun to lose by 25 balls on average. i can no longer see the run outs. speed position control is gone. as if it were as simple as an off/on switch, its been switched to off. lost as to what to do. i have bought books , dvds, and considered lessons all within the last week. do not know what to contribute this to at all!!! very frustrating

this is not a joke.

go to a bar that has pool tables, and really bad house cues. grab a house cue and shoot for an hour or so. then go home and relax. when you go play your match, you'll find that you are right back on track.

I'll give you $75 for that cue you got in a pawn shop for $40...;)
(inside joke)

Good advice, above...

I've had this happen to me. On more than one occasion. In my experience, it usually happens when i hit a 'plateau', or that one spot where after youve been shooting hot for so long, you kind of level off.
Those problems you are having were always there, but youre just seeing them in a bigger light now.
Its always good to get back to fundamentals. Aim, Stance, Stroke, Delivery, Follow Through. Aim your shot, Get in your stance making sure youre solid, Smooth stroke, deliver the tip to the cue ball where you are supposed to, and follow through the shot to deliver the cue where you are supposed to.
I know you have probably already done this a million times, but usually when there is a problem, this is where its at, regardless of what skill level you are.
