I am missing the butt cap and would love to know what it originally looked like but also does anyone know the model. I know its a Brunswick cuz you can make out part of the name on what is left of the bumper.

new butt cap

Hi you have a pretty good chance of getting a new butt cap. If you call Schmelke. They have been using that joint as long as can I remember. This is one of the better looking of his cue that I have ever seen.
They have been in the cue business for as long as I can remember. Oh yeah the name on the bumper will
or could be brunswick. They made alot of cues for them.

Emailed pics to Schmelke no reply. Anyone else own one of these?

Bump for some help. I want to bring this cue back to life but don't want to put the wrong butt cap on it.

EBay ?

I agree with who ever said its a Schmelke. I am 90% positive that's who the maker is. I feal like Ive seen this cue or one that had the same pattern veneers on it some place in the last ten days or so but now I cant locate it. dam Internet information over load . I love these vintage cues good luck on the restoration. A

The Cue and shaft are both stamped # 543

If the butt and the shaft both have stamped numbers on them, first they should match, and second this identifies that the cue was made in Asia during the early 1970's. Schmelke only made Brunswick cues form late 1968 until sometime during 1969, and then all production was moved to Asia. Unfortunately these cues are not collectible or valuable, but some like the cue pictured are very interesting. They really isn't much information I can tell you about these cues, except that the reason they were numbered. The reason butt and the shaft were numbered was so if the two pieces were separated both parts could be identified, because the tolerances between these parts were not precise, and different parts would not fit correctly.

Hope this helps

ThX for the help Craig. Maybe I'll make a custom out of it. The veneer work in it is crazy!!!!
