Help Identify This Cue (Manufacturer)

A buddy of mine recently bought a cue like this one from eBay and we're both stumpted about who the manufacturer really is. The eBay ad says it's a "Palmer" but I've never seen any cues by that name like this.

Any ideas who really makes this cue?

its a cheap made aftermarket cue from overseas....there are several companies using the names of quality cuemakers that are no longer in the stream of cuemaking......omega, and palmer are the two you see the most.....for intents and purposes it is crap....but if you like it ,its not for me to say......i hope this helps you.....juston
 
Thanks for the reply. I was pretty sure it was made somewhere overseas and, of course, definately not a real Palmer. But I would still like to know what is the actual company who makes them. :D

looks familiar, but I need more info....
What is the screw pattern / brass or stainless screw / what kind of bumper /
what type of tip / what type of plastic in the ferrule..if you know / any markings such as some kind of logo or initials?

it looks exactly like a southwest. if the pin is gold with a cactus, it's a southwest and you got a $2000 cue on your hands!
 
Mystery Cue

That looks almost like one I bought last year from a cue dealer at the Open. The cue I bought though didn't have the points on the bottom, but it is just the same every other way. I don't know how much you're friend paid for it but it's not worth anything over $200.00. I sold mine quick though because the shaft was cheap and didn't hit well, and there was always a little dinging noise every time I hit a ball. It had looked very nice but after playing with it I realized that it was some cheap overseas ripoff cue.
 
Looks like it could be a KC cue. I may be wrong but they seem to try and mirror the look of Southwest but obviously are not even close as far as workmanship and playablity.

Thanks for the tip, hemicudas, I'll see what I can find about B.W. Enterprises... sounds like a "distributor" though. :D

But it's definately not a KC or Southwest -- this cue has a 3/8x7 (stainless steel?) radial pin for the joint screw. Also, there are no names or logos/initials/markings on it; the ferrule, joint collars, and butt cap appear to be some kind of phoenelic.

BTW, my buddy paid about $100 for it. :cool:

Penguin, I'm sure you're right. They are a distributor only. I bought one just to see the quality. I also bought a K.C. Custom for the same reason. They are not the same cue. They both look awesome. I haven't hit a ball with either one, thinking I might resell them. So I can't tell ya how they hit. The cues have to be made over seas and are probably worth $100-$150 if for no other reason than they do look just like SW cues. I may break down and hit a few balls with them. If I do I will let you know how they hit. The top photo is the K.C. Custom I bought. There are no decals on either of these cues. It is all inlays. Hey, it ain't a SW but you can buy one for 1/20th the cost.

There are so many cue makers putting out Southwest knock-off's that it would be tough to identify that cue just by the pictures. However, it doesn't really look like a cheap Taiwan made cue either. My best guess is that it's probably worth a couple hundred, at best. Who knows, some of those Southwest knock-off's don't hit too shabby (but there are also some that hit like, as FL would say, she yit).

Very well put JM. FL would be proud of ya, lol. I also believe every word you said. The KC I bought came with joint protectors. The other came with a hard 1X1 case.

Got one spot left in the Ring Game Jimmy. Come on down. Gona be a barn burner.

Ive actually been shooting with a KC-5B for several months now. Got it cheap on ebay on an inpulse buy. I decided to chalk it up and try it, and have loved it since. Now my 340 dollar Viking almost never leaves its case.

I dont know, maybe the KC is a cheap knockoff, but it does have a Moori tip, and for me the hit feels just right. So, whatever, cues are so personal anyways, Im glad that I dont have to have a $4000 cue to think I can play (not that I wouldnt like one of course.) But, I can still run a few tables a night with my KC.

Im no cuemaker, but I do like the workmanship on the inlays... I just think KC may be selling so cheap just trying to get the name out there, and maybe someday they will be a little better known. Or not... time will tell.

Ok, JJ, you twisted my arm. I'm going to chalk it up and hit a few balls too. Like your's, mine has a Moori tip too. I have never hit a ball with a layered tip, so I might as well. A few of the old champions, like Wade Crane had told me they didn't like the layered tip so I hadn't tried them. But I will.

If he starts hearing that dinging sound when he shoots, he could always just get a different shaft for it. Whatever he's comfortable shooting with...Palmer, Predator, etc. It's a nice looking cue though

Ok the cue that started the whole tread Is a omega cue. it's from over seas And the reason why i know i've been playing with one going on a year And i love the hit i had changed the tip on it, And put on a leather wrap and i like it a lot. It's funny But when i put the cue together before it meets it starts to getting real tight and it plays stiff.Like my old Gilbert ..I'm now looking for a plain jane so i make a j/b cue ..O break with it and see how the balls roll. 4 9ball this weekend .. ;) On the snap..

Deadstroke32 is right. The only cues B.W. Enterprises sells are Omega. The one I have is the same way. It starts to get tight just before they meet. I still haven't hit a ball with it so I can't tell ya how it hits. I will get around to it. All of the Omega cues he sells look awesome but like he says, they are made over seas.
