Help identifying a cue

Sorry but no pictures yet. My buddy has a cue that he thought he knew the maker. This week he found out he was wrong.

I should have pictures in a day or so but thought I would get the ball rolling.


The cue has the joint pin in the Shaft. The joint material seems to be phenolic and is a wavy red.

Ebony forearm with what appears to be an Irish Linen Wrap.

Butt handle area is thicker like many vintage cues. (he has had the cue for many years -- around 1980 or earlier he thinks)

Delrin butt cap.

Ivory ferrule.

How many cuemakers put the pin in the shaft?

The cue plays nice and appears to be well made.

Hopefully he can get me some pictures soon. He thought it was a Corsair but found out it is not. He acquired the cue around Long Beach many
years ago. The guy he got the cue from did not tell him anything about it.
 
To start off, the two that come to mind are Burton Spain and Eddie Laube. The Spain cues are flat faced joints, the Laube have piloted joints and long, brass pins, rounded heads.

Also there were Dufferins and there were Brunswicks. Then there are some not so great imports that had the same thing, kind of a copy of the Dufferin.

We definitely need some pics.
