I have an old Falcon cue (made 1990 or 91), it seems to be a Janette Lee signature series. I always thought it has 5/16 x 14 piloted joint but I tried a Predator 314-1 shaft from a buddy at the pool club that was (supposedly) a 5/16 x14 (with silver ring) and it didn't fit properly. The guy was not entirely sure that was the pin type. Then I tried a Mezz united joint and it fit properly. From looking at the pictures I have attached to this message someone told me that it might be a 3/8 x 10.
What does this look like (see pics).
I want to buy a low deflection shaft (as they seem to be all the rage) and I was thinking a Predator but either their 5/16 is a little different or mine is a different type joint. I live in the UK so I would have to order from USA so if a new shafts gets here and it doesn't fit I will be stuck with a shaft I cannot use and cannot sell as no one seems to use this pin type.
Also, I really like this cue butt, looks very good and has some sentimental value for me and I don't want to buy a new one. Perhaps if I can find a cue technician I would accept changing the pin to something else but I am not sure that is safe and I am afraid the cue will be ruined. I am not sure if the change will be at shaft or butt end.
Thanks!
