HELP! I've got a dilemma

If you mess this up you can always say your WERE married to the greatest woman in the world. Look what Pretty Boy Floyd gave up.

I had lessons from Danny once. When I stood next to him at Capone's and he kept telling what the player should do and how he screwed up when he didn't do the right thing. Cracked me up. The player was Buddy Hall.

Lessons, tournaments, they come and go. Honey's are a one time deal.

Jake,
Pretty Boy must have rocks in his head to let that go.

My first lesson with Danny was a RIOT - I felt like I was at a comedy club. It's interesting that you mentioned his criticism, because during a 4 or 5 hour lesson, he must have told me 30 times I was thinking wrong about a position - but each time we played through the options and he was dead right every time. In addition, you know how he always talks on Accu-Stats about the modern players not being able to read the stack- well, the shots he makes out of the stack are frickin' unbelieveable. When I pointed out a few throw or carom options in a stack, he would say, "Yeah, those are the ones everybody sees, you need to learn the ones that nobody see's but the straight pool player"; and he has totally convinced me that they do exist because every time one came up, he would make ME shoot it (even if I swore up and down it could never go) and of course they all went.

If you win/or place high in the tourny you will feel that you did the right thing

If you dont will wonder if the lessons would have helped make you a better player and not make the mistakes that cost you the loss.

Take the lessons. My opinion. That way you have nothing to regret.

If your looking for a win under your belt to satisfy an itch. Than scratch it but not at the cost of a chance to do something like lessons that you feel will make you a better more confident player
