I like your brown idea if it's a light brown to reflect the brown in the BEM (am I the only one who sees brown in there?). Brown phenolic thin ring between two thin brass rings would look sharp. I like brass against ebony - I find silver draws the eye to the ring too much instead of what's between them.
Have you thought about another exotic wood like a cocobolo or bloodwood ring between brass, or possibly some funky dashed ring based on coco or bloodwood? I love bloodwood against ebony, too.
