I have an old Mali cue and I'm thinking of trying out a LD shaft with it. Can someone help me out with telling me what type of joint I have. I've attached a picture. The threads thread directly into the wooden threads on the shaft.

Thanks a lot!

Looks like a 3/8 X 10 pin. If you measure an one inch on the pin and count how many threads are in that inch you will find out what the thread count is. Also measure the thickness of the pin which should equal 3/8's of an inch thick.

3/8 X 10 pin = 3/8's in thick pin that has 10 threads per inch.

Hope that helps.

3/8-10. Best Mali's made. IMO, the best playing production cues EVER. I have never played with a 3/8-10 Mali that wasn't absolutely extraordinary.

I agree that it looks like a 3/8-10, but a simple ruler up next to it would rule out 3/8-11.

I am a little confused by the recess into the white (phenolic?) insert - there is no wood-to-wood contact.

Any comments anyone?

Don't want to hijack this thread, but the OP's answer seems clear.

That's not phenolic. It's wood.
