Sorry but this is a 2 part question.

1) I am looking at 3 cues, i would like to buy one and they are close in price.
Predator 3k-7, Mezz ace 807 or a Tiger xl tl-7. All in the 1000-1400 range. I am not interested in collectable, vintage, etc. What would you recomend of the 3.

2) I have not hit the mezz or tiger, only going on what people have said, i am very uncomfortable making a decision like this without hitting them? I live in the Dallas Tx area. How would i find these to hit????

i honestly don't know much about customs these days, i have been out of the game for about 12 years and just got going again. What would you recomend for me to look into for that price range?

The truth about cues.

You can put two cues with the same manufacturer and same manufacture process, and same specs, and same design and they will hit different.

So, trying out someone elses cue to decide if you want to buy the same moel, is kind of pointless.

You can get a custom cue in the price range and won't regret the decision. Once you have hit a custom that is well constructed you'll never go back to production cues. A good custom sneaky can be had for much less than a grand and they hit great, look modest, and provide a personalized flavor. Highly recommend looking at customs on the for sale/trade section for awhile before spending that much on a production.

If you posted an ad on the wanted/for sale forum saying you have 1200-1500 to spend on a custom...show me what you "got"......

Your going to crap yourself when you find out what you can get in that price range.

Good luck with your purchase.

Take your time ,ask alot of question and don't buy production for that money......Go to the wanted for sale section check whats there.......Be patient get custom.....In the end you'll be happier......Hope this helps and good luck...........Ray Weeks

well all these replys have been great, Jerry Olivier's shop is about 3 hours from me, i just might have to look into that. I hear he makes great cues.

I am joining the choir. If you are set on those brands I'd get Mezz but a cheaper one since the hit would be the same. Do yourself a favor and go to Jerry's shop and hit a few cues; he can custom tailor the product to your wants/needs, and makes a great playing cue no matter what.

Excellent choice I think. I have an Olivier, and have had several in the past and all seem to play pretty much the same imo.

Like another user said, $1200 is a lot to put in a production cue, but if you must, maybe look at the Schons, which, in my experience bring better returns among productions cues if you ever decide to sell, but a well kept, well known custom will do even better in the eventual resale market.

When so many people think its a duck - you gotta consider the possibility !

You are ahead the game just by posting the question
