Help! OB-1 shaft large splinter

I have to say I'm utterly distraught at your reaction  .

I've been playing this game for only 2 years and change and I've never had this happen before. EXCUSE ME for going to an enthusiasts forum for asking for advice when I didn't know how to handle the situation. Apparently OB is a much smaller and more personal company than I had expected. How was I supposed to know that they wouldn't give me the corporate run-around otherwise?

Did your girlfriend just cheat on you or something? If that actually happened than I'm sorry, bu honestly, what is your problem?

You didn't do anything wrong...some people just over react. You didn't throw ob1 under the bus...you just asked a simple question. I can tell you first hand that they are a first class company who took care of a small splinter I had come out of my shaft 2 weeks after I bought it. I've now had that shaft for 2 years and it's perfect.

Btw..they won't care if your the 2nd owner. They didn't ask me for a reciept or where I bought it. ( I actually bought it from them at super billiards expo) All the cared about was there product didn't meet mine or their expectations and they wanted to make it right! First Class all the way!

Thank you for the information Mr. Bunnell! I will send it in with the form then.

Our warranty does apply to the original owner, but we can always make decisions based on "Good Will". I can't make any promises until I get a look at it, but we always do our best to make sure that everyone is happy with our products.

If you look on our website, you will find a product return form on the warranty page. Print it off, fill in what you can and send it in with the cue shaft. We will get a look at it and let you know what we can do. The form is important because the person who receives your cue shaft may not be me and won't know anything about it other than what you put on the return form. If they have questions, they come to me to see if I know something about it.

So go ahead and call us or send it in to us. I am pretty sure we can make you happy!

Great post! I purchased an OB-1 shaft from a distributor about 2 years ago. The shaft came in warped. The company assured me that they will send me a shaft straight as an arrow. Lo and behold, the second shaft was also warped. After the second shaft came in warped, Royce was kind enough to personally call me through a conference call and assured me that my satisfaction was his priority. He sent me a shaft direct from OB, overnight shipment. Now if that's not customer service, I don't know what is...

Made right here in the USA! (no offense to all my foreign buddies)

Edited to add: I simply believe that you should give the home team your first consideration. There are many fine products made all around the globe. ;)

It is not necessary to go public with a problem and damage the reputation of an upstanding company. All he had to do was google them and get contact information.

It doesn't matter one little bit what the intentions were... whether he intended to do them damage by bashing them is inconsequential. What matters is the action he took, and that action has caused the company damage to it's reputation. It puts a red mark on them and all he had to do was keep his mouth shut in public, and keep it private until he had exhaused private avenues of reconciliation.

I doubt he intended to do any harm, I think it was done in haste, while emotionally upset because his shaft was now junk. But his actions have done harm regardless of his intentions. He certainly intended to make the problem public and he made it public and had not even discussed with the maker of the shaft. That's just wrong.

Making it public before asking them for help was not the right way to go about it. It was an error in judgement. I don't hate the poster but he needs to realize that running his mouth in public has done them harm and it ain't right.

If a man has a problem then that man goes to the other man and talks about the problem first. If the other man ain't ready to make things right then "steps" might need to be taken. Pretty simple.

He did not scar them in my eyes...I am still gonna get me an OB shaft...

I have been using an OB1 for a year now without any problems at all. I am reassured by reading these posts that if there was a problem it would be sorted out.
From what I read, the after sales service of this company is second to none.

As an update to my situation, OB Cues has been nothing but excellent in customer service thus far! I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy LD shafts or cues (not that I wouldn't before, as I said earlier).

Supa, don't give it a second thought! You were very selective in your wording in my eyes as to not bash anyone and that's how everyone but one person interpretted your post. After reading RBC's response, did he sound pissed off to you? I think not. He even went out of his way to help Ya even though you are the second owner! Word of mouth for a great product is the best advertisement for a product and but great customer service damn sure comes in a close second. As you can see RBC has customer service down pat. Saving up for a OB myself right now. Let us know what you think of it after you get to shoot with it a while. Good Luck!
