New Britain

There are a few rooms around New Britain area, though I don't know of any in town.

Closest is probably Shooters in Southington, just a quick ride down 84 a couple exits. Owned by Sal Conti who has been on TV a couple times doing the trick shots. Nice room, good prices, no regular tournaments but occasional local tournaments for charities. APA leagues, not sure about BCA.

Next would be World Championship in Manchester. Larry Liscotti's old room. I think there may be a weekly tournament here. Don't know first hand, but I think this may be the room you're most likely to find some "action" if thats what you're looking for. Probably 20 mins from New Britain.

After that, Pool Table Magic in Windsor Locks. ~30 min drive. Owned by Mark Kulungian. Smaller but nice room, more of a bar/club feel than the others but and upscale bar not a dive. Good rates with specials. Multiple leagues BCA, APA, etc.

If you're into bar tables, Big Shots in East Windsor is a big room where a lot of the APA regionals are held. Many bar boxes, three 9 footers last I was there. Leagues and such. More of a bangers paradise.

Probably the place with the better players who will give you a friendly game would be Shooters. Good group of regulars there who don't take themselves too seriously but have some game to challenge you with.

New Britain is 10 minutes from me. 96supersport is spot on with his recommendations. Shooters in Southington is most well known and best of all IMO. Also two miles from my house. :) Yale Billiards in Wallingford is one he didn't mention which is a bit further. Don't waste your time with Big Shots. It truly is a banger's paradise. I was there for an APA tourney a couple months back and I don't recall seeing any 9' tables. All bar boxes. There's a new smaller room that just opened up in Bristol. I forget the name but pictures on FB looked nice. Good luck.

CT is a pretty good place for pool. I was there a few times in two different rooms a few years ago and both were nice with good tables.

Snookers in RI is a bit of a ride from you but has a strong Wed night tournament and has some Joss and Predator tour stops a few times a year.

You're also almost the same distance from all the NY rooms.

Nice location for pool for you. I'm another 1 hr + to get to NY.

Grew up in CT, and agree it's a pretty good area for pool. Asking with the places mentioned, there's Crown Billiards in New London. Not sure about tournaments, it's been a while since I've lived there.

Snooker's is a must if you live in that area of the country. Steve and Regina Goulding are awesome for pool... Try Regina's meatballs. They are AMAZING!

from new Britain, yes, shooters in Southington is a good room and they have Tuesday night 9b tourneys with a $20 entry.

It's handicapped but bring your best game, there are some good shooters showing up, Jeremy Sossei will be there for some of them.

Also, Yale in Wallingford is nice and Cue & Brew is a great room in Branford,

Towne Billiards in Hamden is good, and Corner Pocket in Orange is a real nice room having changed owners for the much better in the last year or so. Their equipment and kitchen are great; just recently hosting a Predator Tour event. They have Sunday 9b tourneys that are A,B, & C.

Finally, up the road a ways but well worth the ride is Fast Eddies in New Milford, a truly beautiful room with great equipment incl a heated Verhoeven (sp?) 3c table so owner, Ed Locke, can school the up and coming carom kings. the music at this room is the absolute best. Ed is a music, booze, beer, and cigar afficionado.

You should enjoy the CT pool scene.

And definitely, you'll be just a couple of hours from snookers in RI and Steinway, Society and Amsterdam plus a few more great ones, in NY.

best,
brian kc
