Help to identify Predator case! Leather or vinyl?

A friend of mine just acquired a Predator 2x4 case. We dont know whether it the leather or vinyl version. I think its leather because from a pic of vinyl i found. The vinyl from pic is not half as smooth at the case he has. Any help would be appreciated.:thumbup:

This is just my thought but at first look it looks to me as Vinyl because my Scorpion case looks just like that . So just my Two Cents .

I worked for Predator for many years while these cases were being manufactured. The leather case is much smoother and slightly lighter color, also the grain is very stipple or has a lot of smaller bumps while the Vinyl has very large grain running through it and is a bit more shiny. I would say from the pictures that the case is leather. But I would really need a close up picture of the case, the strap could be leather and the case vinyl.

how about the smell? leather has a typical smell to it.

I'm pretty sure its leather, looks exactly like the one I have and it is leather.

My guess is vinyl but I really have no clue

When you lick it, is it salty? That would indicate sweaty vinyl. If it feels a little furry on your tongue, it's leather. Also try taking the shoulder strap and rubbing it back and forth on your forehead. If your forhead gets hot, it's leather, if it melts, it's vinyl.

I own one of the vinyl cases from predator. I've seen them both together and I have to say that its easy to tell. If the case has traction or feels very grippy in your hands then its definitely vinyl. If the case is soft and slides easily through your hands, then its leather.

Look in the pockets and see what the back of the material looks like.

This will leave a mark. Take a pin or paperclip and heat it up, and apply it to a part of the case that isn't noticeable. Vinyl will melt, leather will char.

Thanks guys for the info. By luck a guy came into the pool hall tonight and had a vinyl predator case. yeah his looked identical to the vinyl one in the pic. sharkey your right the vinyl has ridges of grain and lot more shiney and more black than my friends.
