Nice old cue, now may I ask....Did the Ivory piece with the engraved
"Ginacue" log shrink, or did the black piece expand to make that step?
I know its a really old cue, but I'm just curious as to how those steps
occur over time. I know that steel rings expand, but I'm curious as to
what other materials do over time. Thanks, Dom.

i think that its just an illusion of the pic... with glare from the finish on each side of the rings to make it look stepped like your saying.. this happens alot with pics of steel joints on cues..

To my eye, it does appear that the ivory (?) ring has shrunken...the depth of the wrap appears to match that of the black ring. Could be a trick of the light...but it looks pretty defined to me.

Everything white on the cue except the ferrules appears that way... the A position ring on the shaft, the B position ring on the butt at the joint, the butt cap, and the white ginacue logo ivory ring. Maybe its just an illusion with the finish, or indeed the ivory did shrink... didn't know that could happen though.
