help with info about Viking cue with twin "Super Joint" on it?

I am curious if anyone here knows any info about the Viking cue that I have added pictures of? Does anyone know the original retail price, the model number, and around what time the cue was made?

I see that it has a twin joint on it (I think it is called a "super joint" by Viking).

I think that the joint looks very cool, but someone on here said that if that kind of joint gets turned too tight, than it may get stuck (and not be able to be unscrewed), and that kinda scares me.

I also read in an old thread from 2008 that Viking still has that joint option available on their cues, but maybe not anymore, because Viking has been sold.

I am mostly curious if the cue may be an older model, but I am guessing it is not.

Thanks for any helpful info about the cue.

i have one with the same joint it ever got stuck on me.the cue you have is a newer cue around 2005 20006

I emailed Viking pictures of the cue, and I was amazed at how fast I received a reply (within an hour), and they were very friendly in their emails to me about my questions. I found out that it is a V117-NT, but I was told that the model was never made with the Super Joint as an option. I was told that the joint must have been added after the cue was ordered. I think it is a very cool looking joint. I wonder how much extra the Super Joint cost to add to the 2 shafts, and how much was originally invested in the cue with the Super Joint added. I do not want to bother Viking again with that question, but the office manager at Viking was very nice.

It is a fairly recent cue...not too old AFAIK.

All you have to do is check their web site to their current joint options. http://shop.vikingcue.com/options/joint-options

Even though the joint is not listed I believe it is still available, at least in their repair shop.

That's a pretty interesting response.

Somebody apparently really wanted that joint. It is a very old school joint and was cutting edge in the 60's, so I am guessing it would have been an older player that would have had it done.

I have an old Viking (60's) with a super joint and have never had an issue with it freezing up.
In fact, I am looking to find another late 60's early 770's with a Super Joint and the logo window. I found one on E-Bay, but the butt is warped which is a deal breaker for me. Here are pics of the Viking I have had since the late 60's.

There are some in my area with the super joint. No troubles yet.
