Help with Joss

Hi guys,
I am comming with a stupid problem. I have a Joss cue ( don't know the model) that has a weight bolt problem. I am pretty sure something happened in time and the bolt got loose. I've removed the rubber and when I looked at the bolt (which is 5-6in inside) to find out what hex do I need ( i know for sure that Joss uses a 6mm one) I found the bomb...there is flat faced weight bolt with no screwing cap....
Did you guys had this problem in the past? Does anyone know how / what should I use to remove/screw in the weight bolt?

Please help cause I really like the cue and I can not play with that annoying sound made by the loose weight bolt.

Thanks a lot.

No, I took it in a trade with multiple items...
Is there any chances to pull it out?

Thanks for answer

Just a thought but if you like the way it plays as is, mix some epoxy like west system with some 207 hardener and pour it in enough to cover the bolt.

For the Joss cues without a screw going thru the bumper, I've always used a T-Allen wrench. You can find the set which is standard by the way at Home depot or, you could come here, or you could get in touch with Joe Callaluca, he's in New Hampshire.

I have both the yellow & black sets of Huskys with the rubber on the grips (metric & standard) Between both sets they handle most weight bolt situations. The bigger they are, the bigger the handles, and the longer they are. They make It much easier to both reach deep bolts, and get the more stubborn bolts to break loose. They also fit several things around My shop as far as tooling and such. Don't know what I would do without them.

I thought that too buddy but thanks for the tip.
I am sure it's the weight bolt 'cause it's placed only 6'' up from the buttcap.

Mike, thanks for stopping by. I'll take the trip to you only to see you shop. I promised in the past and never did it...I won't dare to bother you with a stupid thing like this:)...But for your shop...
I'll let you know sir, pretty crowded these days...
As for Joe is unreachable these days...I've try to contact him last week for some work on my shafts but I think it's cooking something big :P
Thanks again sir.

Thanks everyone.

If that bolt is the connecting pin, I'll eat it. I bet there is either a hex or slot that may not be visible.

Thanks Ryan

I love when people take me in serious....
anyway..i am either blind or I should start wearing some glasses maybe...
My tired old eyes can not see any "socket head" (sorry I didn't know the term 'cause I am not native) and the cue was not chopped and rebuilt! That a sure thing! Again my old tired eyes...

Thanks guys..

That would require video, of course. :D

My impression is that you guys are guessing anyway. One of you needs to see this cue.

Regardless of what it is, it sounds like he is talking about diagnosing something being loose and it may not even be that bolt.

If it were mine, I would want a cue maker or repair man to look at it. The best would be JOSS of course because they made it....but I would bet any of you guys would figure it out real quick if you had it in your hands.

Just my thoughts.

smooth rod

Well said Doc.

To the OP, if I can hazard one last guess ...since your confident it's not a connecting pin, and that it does not have a provision for hand-tool removal (or install for that matter), could it be at some point a length of smooth metal rod of was glued up in there instead of a conventional threaded weight bolt?

Anyway, good luck with whatever it is. Be sure to let us know what you find out.

I ran across one like that, not a Joss...The guy wanted a weight in it and there were metric threads there so instead of finding the right bolt he just shoved some cold roll and epoxy in it....I love it when people try and "fix" there own cues with no knowledge of how they are built, keeps the dollars coming..
