Help With My Game

Alright, well I know there has probably been a lot of people on here that has asked about hot to improve their game. I am not a huge gambler, I love playing tournaments though, I would say I am a B+ player (not to sound conceded lol) but I want to become somebody that nobody wants to play in a tournament. My main problem isn't the game itself, like pocketing balls or getting shape... It's more of the consistency that I lack. I can walk up to the table one day, run out constant racks but the next day I wont be able to hit a ball in. Is there anything special that would help me out? Or is it that I just need to practice more?

And honestly I am not trying to sound conceded about my pool game, I really just want some help on what I can fix to have "less" of those sucky days. I've only been playing for 3-4 years, So I mean I do know about pool but not everything

you just gotta focus more when you aren't shooting your best.

"you have to focus so hard it isn't even fun anymore"

that quote is the key to playing your best

I agree, you have to get to where you can win with your b-game. You just have to play through some of those bad days. Also, you haven't been playing that long and you'll go through slumps which will become fewer and farther between. Usually, you come out of the slump a stronger player.

Thats the truth, there was a day I was I went to a open, while I practice, I sucked, my first round sucked, then I came back and took 7th because I focused "so hard", I mean hard enough to the point where I barely even remember about the day of the tournament it self lol, So yea thanks for the helpful advice, Is there any out of all the drills that work best to help me focus more.

back when i was beginning, and still making big jumps in my game instead of the little ones i get now, i'd always shoot awful before i got a little better.

just stay motivated and play through it.

Sure enough, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and that's the best way to look at it. When I feel like I can't make a ball, I chalk it up to being at a point where my game is growing and sure enough I come out on the other side feeling stronger.

When I ask my students what they want to get out of lessons, the number one response by far is more consistency. If you have ever run a rack, why can't you do it every time? You have proved you are capable.

Consistency comes from doing the same thing,, the same way every time. Every aspect of your game needs to be consistent. Your approach, the way you think about a shot, the way you position yourself, the way you set up and move your arm, the way your eyes move....all of it needs to be as consistent as possible.

Building routines and checklists for your game is a good start. Then you have to go to work to make them habits that happen automatically. It's an ongoing process, and the better we become at doing it, the more consistent our game becomes.

There is more than likely something about your process that you don't do consistently (ie. approach, set up, stance, stroke, grip etc.). Inconsistent play is generally a result of inconsistent fundamentals. The only exception I think is if your problem is positional play and shotmaking. At which point, then you need to work on concentration.
