Help with schon cue

I ordered a stl-13 with std and ivory shafts, both 13mm. The requirements were both shafts must weigh 4oz +, and the cue weigh 19 1/4-19 1/2 oz together. The ivory shaft is 4.02 oz and std shaft is 4.27 oz and butt is at 15.8 oz. The problem I'm having besides a heavy cue is, as long as I hit soft or easy it sounds fine, but if I have to bare down with draw or follow or english of any kind the stick has a chatter or thug as if I'm overpowering the cue. It does not sound solid. Sent it back to schon to listen to it and change the weight bolt to lighter one, they say it sounds fine. The older schons didn't sound like this, can anything be done about this? Thanks in advance for advice. JSS

Why don't you get an older Schon if that's what you like. Also, you didn't specify which shaft caused you to dislike the hit.

Thanks,SK

I would have got an older schon had I known the cues weren't the same, been out of pool about 15 years. About the shafts, it's not a particular shaft its the cue as a whole. The hit I'm used to is a 70's Joss with engraved butt cap, very solid with no harmonic noises. The schon does not feel solid and makes,(the best I can describe it) harmonic tones, not good. Thanks JSS

Ivory ferrules and stainless jonts are notorious for making hollow sounding pings. Now some players would almost kill to get a cue that sounds like that. Others hate it. If Schon did not feel there was a sound issue then you just may be experiencing what I refer to as a really hard hitting cue.

Only answer is ... because of the way that Shone is constructed.

Shone is a good production cue.
Hey ... 10,000 happy players cant be wrong.

In fact that answer just about covers any cue.
It sounds and plays that way because of the way it was made.

If you feel there is a serious defect somewhere in the guts of the cue ask Shone if they will replace the butt with another just like it.

Personalty, I would not buy or expect one of my customers to buy a cue without playing a game or two of 8 ball with it.
That is why I discourage custom orders here at Willeecue.
