Help...

Grady

Pro Player
I could sure use some help!!!
I’ve made every effort to work with prevailing companies that film and air pool in it’s various forms.
I have had no success at all. If any pool lovers out there have any connections with, say, a cable company, no matter how obscure and small, that we might strike a deal with, to film what I’m doing now and in the near future, please let me know.
I’m willing to fly or drive anywhere to get this done. I also have somewhat of a budget towards these ends.
I regret to say that I’ve had to protect myself and my work lately ( trademarking and registering almost all of my upcoming things). I have some things in the can that should make pool as big as football. To put it another way we have a great sport for sale cheap. But I think it’s time for this old pro to use other vehicles.
There are mega-bucks to be made, while making practically everybody happy. I freely admit that most of my problems in the area talked about here, are due to my life long distrust and dislike of most agents, show business types, etc. Underneath everything, I’m just a pool player who loves our sport.
Again, help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Grady

I wish I knew someone of the sort Grady. I have alot of respect for you in that not only are you a great player and a legend of the sport, you are also always trying your best to better this sport and bring it into a more respectable and marketable light. I am sure your future ideas are great ones as you have a knowledge base of this sport few can match and past enterprises you have brought forth have been very good for the sport and very successful. If the sport had more guys like you I think we would have a far bigger and brighter future.

Sorry I cannot help. If anyone does know a person that could help then by all means help out the man, he knows his stuff. Good luck to ya Grady.

I don't know if this is still the case since I don't live in Fla., but wasn't the Sunshine Network, a Fla. cable company, airing pool tournaments on a regular basis? If if was successful and they're still doing it, that might be a start. It might even be a start to contact them if it was unsuccessful, just to learn from the mistakes and try to determine why.

Prime Network

This might be a dumb question, but whatever happened to the Prime Network from circa 1994? I remember that network airing many tournaments from the Players Championship that Mike Sigel won his 100th tournament, Florida Flare-Up, Phillipine Challenge and so on. Is that now a defunct network or is there any possibility there?

Sorry for not being of any constructive help.

We're here for you Mr. Mathews to help in any way!

Prime was bought out by Fox Sports.

Grady,

I don't know how much help this can be to you but I live in the North Eastern part of New Jersey and the local Cable Co. is Cablevision. One of my friends I grew up with is pretty high up in that company he is a reginal manager. Makes a great living. Hell he just bought a 175K boat 2 years ago. His name is James Gaffney he is located in the Creskill office hopefully still. The number there is 201-262-8600. I don't know if this information will help but it's worth a try right. Best of luck to ya.

try our Mayor Ray Nagin

Grady, the new mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, was the top executive at Cox Cable In New Orleans for several years before being elected mayor. He's a very positive guy, he evn owned a minor league hockey team here....Humphrey ;) ;)

Hey, Grady, you are one of my heroes so wish you the best of luck in your endeavors to support our sport. I have not played very long but do sincerely love pool and would really like to see it better promoted in the us for all great players to benefit from.

Too many pros are broke. that is not right.

Laura
