Chess clocks would work. I have enjoyed using them playing chess, and it quickly becomes a natural part of play.
I notice there are also several chess clock apps for iPhone and Android, some free, that would probably also work. These would be cheaper and easier for lots of people to have access to.
It should be easy for someone to write a pool clock app, too, if there are some requirements that chess clocks don't support.
