On a serious note, though, Saluc is introducing a new laminated tip, made of high-quality pig skin. It is available in three diameters: 12 mm, 13 mm, and 14 mm. It also offers three different qualities of hardness: soft, medium, and hard.

The nine layers has a special leather treatment which is a secret formula originating at Saluc's factory in Belgium.

According to Saluc, they developed a treatment that "optimizes the mix of qualities required for a tip by the most demanding professional players."

So I guess it begs the question. Has anybody used one of these tips? If so, what do you think of them?

I think the ideal tip has a mix of hard-tip and soft-tip qualities, and that's what layered tips deliver:

HARD-TIP QUALITIES
- holds shape; doesn't compress
- doesn't absorb force

SOFT-TIP QUALITIES
- holds texture/chalk; not prone to miscue
- doesn't make annoying sound

So, assuming a layered tip delivers this mix of qualities, what are the features of the ideal layered tip?

- doesn't delaminate
- glue layers not too hard
- uniform layers, hardness, quality (from tip to tip)
- doesn't inspire installers to gouge customers

What about medium a little of both.I like the triangle tip.

I'm not sure. Maybe it will take a while for them to come to the States. I am anxious to learn more about them. Aramith enjoys a sterling reputation in the industry. That's for sure! :smile:
