Herman Rambow Cue value

Hello AZ'rs,
I have a client that has a Herman Rambow cue with his name on it that he bought new from Mr. Rambow in the 1961-1964 timeframe. The cue is ALL ORIGINAL and one ORIGINAL owner...

The cue is in excellent condition and has not been restored. It is a Titlist blank from way back then and it has been closet kept in a case. The butt cap is ivory as well.

I do not know too terribly much about the values of these cues today and would appreciate any help you may offer. However, I am smart enough to know they range quite a bit via my research online.

I know that Dick Abbot has had quite a few but isn't collecting them anymore from our conversation earlier. Is there a current collector of Rambow Cues without a known name on them?

Looks like the Calligraphy is traced over.

That's the way they look with this writing style - made with several passes.

My recently passed friend, Kevin Brewer, sold one for me a short while ago, similar model, a little earlier version but in good shape.

Here's what it auctioned for:

I would say that cue went on the low side. Your friend's is probably worth $2000 depending on who's looking. It helps he is the original owner and the cue looks very nice. It seems to me they go for a little more when they have "made by Rambow" under the script.

In the current market, somewhere in the 1000-1500 range. Not having the "by Rambow" also usually hurts it a bit.

Wonderful cue, and a shame they don't go for more. I'll guess two thousand give or take a bit would be the going rate. Design took over with Balabushka and Szamboti, then a host of others, but the old Rambows are great cues. They usually won't fetch what the others mentioned will, but still a piece of cue history. Now, if you happen to have a Rambow used by Mosconi, that would fetch a good deal more, but I think my estimate above is fairly close to market value.

Nearly identical to the one I bought in 1962, won tons of 14.1 tournaments with,
then stolen from my buddy's '65 GTO while we were in a bar. The schmucks
were after his tape player and found the Cue & Brunswick Case behind the seat.
That really broke my heart and I didn't order another Custom until 1975 when I
ordered a Palmer Model M w/2 shafts and a Black Brunswick Case. That one
was stolen in 1981 during a home burglary. My name is in the clear window.
Even with a $2500 reward, it has never surfaced.
