Hey Cuetec!

This isn't anything a permanent black marker wouldn't fix. In fact, send me your cuetec and I will modify it with my new black ferrule modifications for 49.99 plus shipping!
I don't use Cuetec lol. Joss/Predator Vantage.
I'm just pointing out why Predator is dominating Cuetec

Jacoby makes cues for Predator. If a pro Predator sponsored player were to use a Predator cue made by Jacoby, who's cue would he be using?
Jeanette Lee was sponsored by Jacoby and played with their cues for awhile. After leaving Jacoby for another sponsor, she liked her Jacoby so much, she had Jacoby make her a cue with her new sponsors name on it.
It's no different in alot of other sports. Take pistol action sports. While your top sponsored pros shoot for various manufactures, you can not buy their pistols. Sure they have models with their names on them, but the pistols they use are all hand made by a top gunsmith, most of which don't even work for the manufacture the shooter shoots for. They may start with the basic frame that the shooter has his name on, but everything else is outsourced and hand fit by their preferred top gunsmith. Doug Koening is a prime example, used to shoot for S&W, now Ruger. While ea had pistols with his name on, the actual pistols he uses were built by a gunsmith that he prefers to use.
To think that a top pro in any sport has to use the product with their name on is just not realistic. They may be, then again, they might not be, just the way it is.

Aren't Predator cues made in china? If they're made by Jacoby, I might as well just go buy a Jacoby.

Just the Valour & Panthera models that I know of. Jacoby makes a very high quality cue, just have to find a style you like as some of theirs are sort of gaudy. They do have a really neat feature on their site where you can look back at past models of cues and also past special order cues.

The Sang Lee series is my favorite.

I have been watching a lot of Fedor lately. Never even noticed the shaft. Maybe you're overthinking things...

And I'm only giving Cuetec my business advice because Predator is getting to big for their own good-- trying to monopolize the billiard market. I use and love Predator's wood ld shafts, but this "slap a Predator label" on everything is getting ridiculous...
And don't get me started about how SVB had to wrap electrical tape around his Cuetec butt earlier for a few years while being sponsored by Cuetec.
Yah, that really made me wanna buy their cue:rolleyes:
Lol his cue was put through the ringer, watched an old match on youtube where some of the paint was peeled near the joint. I think the beauty of his sponsorship back then was to feature the "new" R360 shaft at the time. A non-fiberglass shaft from cuetec that actually plays well?? I've read (on here) that Strickland and Fisher's cuetecs had custom wood shafts on them, where as Shane's shaft is right out of the box. Even if people didn't buy them, they were sure curious about them. Shame that the Cynergy is the only shaft they made for other joints.

I did get a cuetec r360 plain jane for $140 at the time. Was surprised how well it played. My buddy was a cue snob and hated it, told me if i ran a rack with it, he'll buy one. I could barely run 2 balls at the time and ran the table lol. He ended up getting some ugly green cuetec with an R360 out of obligation.

Yep. Possibly the world's greatest player atm is sponsored by Cuetec, who let's him shoot with a modified Revo 12.4 look-alike that isn't available to the general public. That's really sticking it to Predator:rolleyes:
Yawn...

I doubt anyone that would care to notice the details of the shaft to the point of the ferrule color would get confused about the shaft, and anyone else won't know what it is anyway. A lot of pro players use demo/test/modified equipment. Tennis players a lot of times use older model racquets they are comfortable with but have new designs painted on by the maker, Earl when he was with Cuetec had custom shafts on them, no fiberglass coating, very long taper.

Cuetec has been on a sales tear lately with the higher end stuff, the Synergy and SVB lines I see in a lot of places. My son just traded for a nice looking sparkle blue Cuetec with a Synergy shaft, one thing I found interesting is the butt taper at the grip area. It was narrow towards the top then about 1/3rd down the wrap it swelled up to a larger diameter then tapered down again slowly past the wrap to the butt, so there is a thicker than normal for a modern cue feel to it with a bit of a bulge. Felt interesting to play with, not in a bad way, probably what a cue with one of those over wraps on it must feel like.

I guess Cuetec listened.
Fedor is back to using a white ferrule in his 3day ppv 1-Pocket match against Chip Compton.
Sorry if I got you in trouble Fedor......

I'm just pointing out the difference between a successful monster Predator, and a potentially successful tadpole Cuetec.
Predator is dominating because their marketing is far superior. Cuetec is underachieving. They have the potential to become dominant, it's just being underutilized.
C'mon Cuetec, you're being smoked by a company named "Predator":ROFLMAO:
Predator is dominating because their shaft technology has been superior to anything Cuetec ever build.
Same goes for other companies, even Mezz has 314 and z shafts on their website.

As far as the wood ld shafts, I agree.
But the Revo vs Cynergy is debatable.

Cynergy is worse in the LD department than 314. Revo is true LD shaft, Cynergy is not.
I shot with Cynergy a little and I was disappointed that it did not offer superior energy transfer over 314 like some other CF shafts.
All in all typical Cuetec.

I have a very old Mali. 20 oz, 12.5mm, with an old LePro tip.
I reckon Fedor would never win another game using this cue!

Well there are A TON of players shooting with the Cynergy shafts, including the two top carbon-fiber using pros, SVB and Gorst.
It's not ALL about how low the deflection is (the Ko Brothers and Yapp use maple lol), it's about the overall feel and hit.
The Cynergy has the Revo by the b@lls, now finish it off by manufacturing a black ferruled Cynergy.

Those two top guys are getting paid to use Cuetec. When Earl was using Cuetec he said many times what a crap it was.
I liked Jacoby over Cuetec in feel department, energy transfer, neither is LD but Jacoby gets the nod.
....and neither convinced me to switch from wood.

I don't use carbon fiber either.
My point is that while I agree that most Cuetec gear is crap, the Cynergy shaft is really nice.
Both SVB and Gorst's games have IMPROVED since signing with Cuetec.
