hey, i need help for a debate in one of my classes

Ok. I will bite. You know how I KNOW golf is harder. I can take most anyone who has never played the game and they can make a ball. Take someone to the driving range For the first time and they wiff the ball for an hour. My daughter made several balls the first time I took her to Grady's. She was 3. She has yet to make a putt on the golf course after 36 holes. People can say what they want. But it is no comparison. I am an above average player in both. I have run 7 racks on a 9 footer and I shot -10 in a round of golf. Should have shot 59 but I choked on the last 4 holes. Finished with 4 pars. You can yip in a shot on the table. You can't on the course.

I don't know about that, first time pool players often take more than an hour to finish a rack of 8 ball. I doubt it would take a first time golfer an hour to finish 1 hole in golf.

Here are some idea/topics to start on:

Pool is more mentally challenging, golf is more physically challenging.

In pool you play against an opponent who can directly affect how you play (or whether or not you play at all). In golf you play against the course.

Pool has more variables, but less variation within those variables. Golf has less variables, but more variation within those variables. For example, in pool you have 6 pockets to choose from, but the conditions to make a ball in those pockets doesn't change over the course of the game. In golf, you have one hole, no choice, but the terrain, weather, etc. changes for every hole.

It would probably be many times easier to make a proficient golf robot than a proficient pool robot.

Very good post.
Many Regards,
Lock n load.

IMO, golf is harder then pool to an extent.

However, one thing always sticks out in my head that says pool is probably the hardest competitive sport. Pool is the only game/sport that you can lose without even getting a turn.

In golf you can make 3 errand shots (off fairway, sand, etc...) and one good putt and still make par. In pool you make one bad shot and you are done.

That's not necessarily true... depends on your definition of errand. I mean, being out of line for 4 shots but making the balls would be similar to the golfer in the rough or bunker and still making par IMO.

(Hey it's a debate, we are supposed to argue right :))

Bowling is the easiest, because you can play perfect. Pool and golf are equals and you can't compare. You can only play them to the best of your ability.. No matter how good you play pool or golf, you could always have done something better.

I mean basicaly to say golf is harder then pool, or pool is harder then golf you have to say Tiger Wood's is more talented then Efren Reyes, or vise versa..

i'm not so sure golf is harder than pool. Yes a golf swing is much harder than a pool stroke and even if in pool you must adjust to differnt conditions ( like how a table breaks, cloth speed, rail speed, size of the pockets and other aspects) is not the same of adjusting to wind, bunkers, difference in pendency,ecc...
In golf you know that if you play good you can win against a top player because you are playing the course. If you play good you win, no way the other player can affect your game. Instead in pool the oppenent can play a safety on you. In straight pool, if you are playing against a strong player race to 100, you know that there is the possibility of losing because you made one mistake. In 9 ball many matches are decided because the player who lost made only a safety mistake or missed a couple of balls.
I believe the mental aspect in pool is harder than in golf.
