I live in New Orleans and work in a pool hall down here I play on 9ft Diamonds and thats about all i play on excpt for the 1 or 2 league nites I play on. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to improve my game I already do practice drills for a hour or 2 a day and I play for about 7 to 10 hours a day depending on if I'm in action or not. If there is anything you could suggest I do like practice drills or anythig else it would be a big help. I'm in action for most of the time and that has helped my game alot I have also gotten into playing One Hole about 2 months and my game has already jumped up 3 balls or so. I could use the advice because I would like to be the best around here and you know of all people that can be a tuff order to fill because we have alot of strong players.

Thanks

Lil C, you're doing the right thing by shooting a lot of balls. Playing one-pocket will help you with all the fundamentals.

Keep working with the cue-ball and work on mastering all of your "feels" and techniques. It is important to practice all your englishes, forced follows, the draws and stops of the cue-ball, inside lefts, outside rights, et cetera.

You didn't mention how long you have been playing. Action will definitely help to build the strength of your game, but when I was developing my game, I preferred to practice alone and work with the cue-ball constantly. The object is to be able to get that cue-ball on a string and know exactly where it's going.

BTW, what pool room do you work at in New Orleans?

Do you ever run into "Jessie" Mike Cummings? He was hanging out in Pickle's across the street from the Sports palace last time I saw him.

I work at The Sports Palace and I have been playing for about 10 years but I had gotten engaged so I really didnt play serious pool for about 4 years. Well now shes gone and I'm back to working on my game and I have played serious pool for about 5 months now about 10hrs a day more if I'm in alot of action. I do pretty much what you have suggested and I have found a Major weakness in my game which is position I have noticed alot lately most of time when I loose is because I got bad shape is there any drills you could suggest for position

Yea I know Mike very well a matter of fact I just bought some One Pocket tapes from him. He comes around The Sports Palace and Pickles still and he sometimes goes to the Corner Pocket.

LiL C, tell Dot I said hi! :) I've got a lot of memories from Sport Palace. I heard Buddy Hall was coming over there to manage it and the place across the street.

It's hard to know how to help you without seeing how you play in person. Slumps happen to everybody. If you keep hitting balls, nature will take its course.

If Buddy does come to New Orleans, he would sure be a good one to ask. I learned a lot from Buddy, and I'm sure you would, too. :)

Ok I sure will tell her and I will ask him when he comes down it's not a sure thing as yet. Is there any positions drills I can use or a book with position drills in it I can buy? Again thanks for the help and who knows you might even find you way down here again.
