You know, Sherm, after thinking about this for a little bit I actually remember that day quite vividly. It was the opening of the restaurant/bar in the back. I recall being really excited about the new opening and I was there all day that day and when the time came to take orders I pushed in front of everyone to get the first drink. I got a Coke and paid for it with that dollar. You tacked it on the wall as soon as you took it.
I went back there about 10 years ago and it was still tacked on the wall where you put it that day. I remember showing it to my wife.
Thanks for hanging on to that, Sherm. In no small way you and the guys at Beechmont were like an extended family to me. I remember when I was leaving for Japan Brian called me and told me to come over and shoot some one hole with him. When I got there the pool room was pretty empty. Whoever it was at the counter told me that Brian was back in the bar. I walked into the bar and all you guys were there waiting and had the place decked out for a going away party, with cake and everything. I really appreciated that.
A year or so later when I came back to town for a visit the first place I went to was the pool hall. Again, Brian said he didn't have much time but told me to come up later in the week. I really didn't have any time to get back there that day and it turned out that you guys had a welcome back party waiting for me. I swear to God, to this day I feel terrible about not showing up that night. You honestly have no idea how bad I feel about that.
