Hi Tate, I see you are the resident Palmer expert. I wonder if you can tell me what year mine was made? I Purchased it in 1975 from a student who was from N.J. Here are some pics. I know my pics are bad. I never could take a good pic.:)

Hi Captain Hook,

It's a Model A Palmer from the second catalog:

http://www.palmercollector.com/Model-AB-page.html

These were bar cue conversions and were the among the most popular Palmer cues ever made. This was similar to Paradise's "House Special" and shares many similar features.

Yours was probably made in the 1968 - 1972 time period. Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like it has the original two tone wrap. The color combination of your cue is not one I've seen before - and it looks good.

Your cue including the shaft may have been a Brunswick at one time, or it could have been from a blank made by Irving Katz in Brooklyn. Here's a little history on Palmer if you're interested:

http://www.palmercollector.com/Palmerhistory.html

These were good playing cues and inexpensive at the time. It might have originally sold for $50 or so. This was a hustler's cue. It was the kind you could leave on the table and disappear with the cash out the back door.

In any case, Palmer made thousands of the Model A but a lot didn't survive, and it is a nice cue to have in your collection.

Tate,
Thank you so much for the information. Yes it is the original Blue/Black/Blue
wrap. I see on your site you like Jay Flowers cases also. I loved the Blue
on the Palmer so much i had Jay make me a Blue leather case for it in 1987. Here are some pics of it. :)

I've spoken with Jay (who is quite a nice fellow) and have done a write up on him. In a few weeks I am going to have time to work on my site some more and I am going to add a section on his history and show some of his cases.

That is great. Feel free to use my case. I know the pic's are not the greatest. Jay was a fantastic guy, he introduced me to Rocky Tillis,
who introduced me to Wayne Gunn. :) Wayne made me a Sneaky Pete.:D
This was around 87/88.
