Yea, Yea, I know there is a Carom area on AZB, but.....I need help with a table I just purchased,....and I am going to use my years here on AZB as a "freeby" for this thread if you all don't mind :)

So, I just picked up a Brunswick Gold Crown II 5x10 Carom Table. I really know nothing about these tables having played mostly pocket billiards my whole life......so...here what I have/know...

>one set of staples in the wood.

>Rosewood finish on rails and legs

>brass finish on the adjustable feet

>aluminum/chrome corner trim

>pegged/doweled slates

>the plaque>>> Gold Crown II Mod. "EI" USA Pat. Des.No. 192 086

Any help is awsome guys!....this table came out of a home and has ONE set of staples in it! :)

Just trying to get some info...

thanx, G.

funny, earlier today I had just stumbled across your (March? January?) thread where you said you were getting one. Glad to hear you did.

Jay speilberg has any info you want re: the play or the bad boy. Not sure who might be the historian, if that;s what you want.

You can invite me over, I guess.:poke:

So far I have found out from Mr. Jewett that it might play short, but that can be remedied in some way by the set up mechanic?

Heating will be a huge pluss but don't use bee's wax on a heated table, it will fail and even show through the cloth.

The 300 cloth is my choice.

Artemis Intercontinental No. 66 carom will be the best cushin you can buy, don't settle for cheep cushin they won't play as well and don't last very long.

I believe there are three sizes of american carom balls, the reason for this is to adjust the play of your table. You may have to experiment to find the set that plays best for you.

Will it play as well as the European tables probably not, the European carom tables are built with far more "meat" on thier bones. Frames, rail systems, slate are much meater than the GCs.

Hope this helps... Dave
