Blud ... Were the jewels all surface mounted or were some
of them raised above the surface ... just curious ..
Hey Snapshot9,

All of them were either in a pocket or in a bezel that was in a pocket. The 100K cue, in Ebony, had 6 points up and 6 down, with a flat bottom channel machined in for the platinum lined points, with pavid diamonds in the bottom of the pockets, ivory handle, ivory joint, butt plate, ivory ferrules, 4-shafts, Ivory and emerald joint protecters, with emeralds lining the silver inlayed ring work.

Most folks are made to believe that diamonds need to be mounted up, so the light can gather around the stone, showing it off more. bull crap.

Good stones , "GATHER THE LIGHT", from any side of it, even from a bezel or pocket in a cue. With the stones mounted above the surface of the cue, you will be bumping them on the table and could cause damage to either the cue or table.

In this construction you must keep the playability of the cue in mind.

The cue is like a woman, she's got to have heart, before the cosmeitic
are applied. She can look good, but that doesn't mean she's got heart. Another words, build a cue that will play good, then add the beauty.

Hi Mary, I would love to show it off, however it's in a court battle between Mr, and Mrs Hoods, with there pending divorce. I must got to court to tell the court how the cue came about, and all details some time in Jan 06.

I'm not allowed to post pictures at this time under court order. This is about an $80million divorce. No Bull....
Can't tell details, and won't but he's in deep crap.

Blud is exactly correct in his statement about diamonds and how they're set. The "sparkle" that you get from a diamond is a result of the light that goes in from the top of the diamond and is reflected back out of the top of the diamond. Therfore it doesn't matter if it is prong set or bezel set (inset), it will sparkle just the same assuming the surface of the diamond is clean. Same goes for colored stones (rubies, sapphires, emeralds, etc.)

Hope you look at guys that make quality cues with good resale value first. Anyone can make cues with a lot of stones in them. The trick is doing it tastefully so that the cue has resale value and stays functional as a cue. Good luck...a lot of good suggestion on this thread concerning cuemakers. I would suggest Jim Buss, Jerry McWorter, Gina Cues, in addition to some of the others mentioned here.

Thomas Wayne made a stunning cue for a friend of mine inlaid with gold nuggets. I don’t know if he does that type of thing regularly. He was a personal friend of Thomas.

I would also suggest contacting Dan Dishaw. He is a great cuebuilder and I think in coming years the value of his cues is going to go way up.

on jeweled cues, I found a reference to Lishan cues.
I don't know about them, but their was mention of
an Emerald green cue and pink lizard skin wrap from
South Africa.

I used to own a Lishan and they were one click below a Muecci in quality....I hope this is someone or something different....
